In honor of Thoreau’s influence on society and conservation, we’ve transformed what was originally built as the estate’s “summer kitchen” in the late 1800’s/ early 1900’s into a quaint one room cabin. This cabin has hosted many a wild game roast along with nights of wine, laughter, song and philosophizing. This cabin harkens back to days of old with a craftsman handmade stone fireplace which was fashioned from river rock harvested on the property.
“After our stay at Wellnesste, we regret not planning to stay even longer than we did. My boyfriend, our dog, and I stayed in Thoreau's cabin, which proved to be a lovely and cozy place to stay. Both the sofa bed and the mattress are super comfy, and there's a little fireplace inside the cabin if you prefer to use that over the outdoors fire pit. The grounds were idyllic, with friendly chickens and dogs around to keep you company on your walks! Wellnesste has little surprises everywhere you go, from a fairy trail in the woods, to a relaxing area by the river. Christophe is also an amazingly communicative and helpful host, and makes sure that your stay is as comfortable as possible.”
On our 60 acre nature sanctuary at Wellnesste Lodge and named in honor of Jane Goodall for the amazing work she's done in the name of conservation. Our treehouse is the perfect place to getaway from it all. Set in our pine forest, the treehouse has two stories with an open air 2nd story balcony, reading nook, kitchenette & sleeping loft (up a small ladder). This is a semi-rustic treehouse has electricity & heat and in addition you have access to a detached full bathroom with shower.
“Wow!! This place was AMAZING! We wanted to get away from our busy lives, disconnect and relax. That's exactly what happened here. Christophe greeted us when we arrived and gave us all the information we needed to enjoy staying at Wellnesste property in the treehouse. There was so much to see! The chickens and ducks. Two friendly rescues. Fairy trails behind the tree house we stayed in. A short walk to a beautiful river. Fresh eggs. I even bought a handpainted rock! There are so many little touches that make this place so wonderful. The hosts definitely take pride in what they have. I really enjoyed the privacy. Even though there were people staying in other cabins, you'd never know unless you saw them. It was so peaceful! Thank you so much for the memories.”

“We had such a great time at Wellnesste. The only thing I wish I had known was that there's no running water at the bus. Although, there is a shower and toilet for #2 attached to the main house within walking distance. Bring a bucket to wash dishes and your all set. My 4 year old son absolutely loved the tree swing...and so did we! I haven't swung on a swing like that since I was a kid. We played hide and go seek and had a blast because there's just so much room! The fairy garden was beautiful and there's so much to see. Make sure you go down the path to the right in porcupine woods to find a place to play around in the water. Not many fishing spots since the water was low but we made the best of it. Thank you so much Christophe. We will definitely be back!”
