“Gingerbread House - Very special find. Warm and cosy inside with everything you need for a short break. Comfy bed, excellent fire with top oven, lots of available wood. Secluded and private. We were like kids with excitement. Outside kitchen - Does what it needs too. I struggled to get hot water to wash up but probably could have just asked how the boiler worked. I simply boiled the kettle. Gas stove to cook on and a small BBQ if you wanted one. Outside toilet - Outside dunny. Does the job, saves you walking to the bathroom during the night. Tidy enough. Private bathroom - Excellent shower and a beautiful bathtub. We left our belongings in here whilst using the hot-tub without issue. Hot-tub - Large, private hot-tub which is covered so keeps the water warmer for longer. Sliding windows for air and light if you wished. Candles left out for the romantic touch. We soaked for hours. Private seating area with a table outside if you wanted it. Animals - Fun to see and feed! Location - No bother to get to at all. We wandered into town via their land and it took about 25 minutes as a nice stroll. Hosts- Around if you needed them, very welcoming and equally left you be if you just wanted privacy. We’d stay again.”

“Great location, just outside of the small town of Alston. Beautiful set of cottages. We had heard that the cottage was attached to a hotel/ BnB. It was. We were upgraded to a bigger cottage due to a mixup. We loved it as a family. It was huge, spacious, clean and had a lovely view. The amenities are dated - the TVs are old and barely have channels, the microwave wasn't working, the kitchen wasn't as well stocked as other AirBnBs and the stove had no temperature controls. But pros more than made up for it, along with the hosts' hospitality. They gave us laundry liquid, butter, ketchup when we asked for it and tried to fix the microwave. So no complaints there. Would recommend. Alston, for its ambience, was our favourite leg of our vacation.”

“Amazing location, great for a relaxing weekend. We had a lovely walk into Alston and back along the very picturesque river Nent via Blagill. lots of waterfalls. The hot tub was nice and clean and had lovely views over the valley. The cottage was as described but actually bigger than the photos show. Very friendly hosts who enjoyed showing us the various rescue animals.”
