“Scott’s place is fantastic! Both comfortable and charming, full of considerate touches and thoughtful provisions. The space is a detached (private entrance, no shared spaces) basement apartment including a nice dark street-distant bedroom, small galley kitchen, cute bathroom, clever little study nook, and a large well-appointed main room with sofa, TV, small table and chairs. It's all connected through a long hallway that would make it awkward as an apartment but allows for the two big rooms to feel really separate. The whole feel of the place is a cozy urban snug decorated in updated boho style by well-off people who know they have impeccable taste. It’s nice. We know the house has dogs but we never heard them, the underground insulation and carpets throughout make it very quiet. Still, there’s plenty of light if you open the curtains to the street-level windows, it only feels like a cave if you want it to. Bedroom features black-out curtains and luxurious sheets on a large comfy bed. Door deadbolts and has a peephole. I book a place based on bath, sometimes, and I can give this wide and long tub full fat femme approval! Comforts like basic cooking supplies, cloth napkins, a fan, portable heater, tea kettle, corkscrew, filtered water and ice, plenty of towels, all our wants were provided for. Mobility notes – there are maybe 6-7 steps down to the door, with railing. There are also 3 mini-ramps, going up a foot or so between interior spaces, it’s a quirky element of the architecture. The tub is about 30” high and contains the shower. Lower-than-average ceilings throughout. Scott himself is lovely, a good communicator, warm and ready to show us around and yet sensitive to our privacy vibe. Scott even left us some local gourmet caramels, cookies and – extra dear, I’d said I was hosting a sweetheart -- a bottle of wine. He is an accommodating host who takes hospitality seriously, and it showed in all of our interactions as well as how the space is designed and maintained. COVID-19 note: I mentioned to Scott that I’m in a higher-risk group and wanted to avoid contact. He made the key handoff very carefully distant, and reassured me that after the cleaning crew comes through he’s leaving space between guest bookings just to be sure and minimize risk. I felt safe and very well cared for.”
