Located in the town next to Narai-juku, Nakasendo's post town, a historic town that has flourished as a region for lacquerware from the Edo period.It was built in 1931 in this town, which has been designated as a Jūdenzensetsu Conserved Area and still has many lacquerware shops. Our house is available for one group per day, without meals, and as a whole house rental.It takes a little time to get around, and there are no supermarkets or convenience stores in this area, but I think that's why this place has a quietness and a casual, simple beauty to everyday life.It would be nice if you could stay like living in this old town, such as reading, walking, local sake (sake, wine), and sleeping slowly. There are no screen doors in this old house in the valley, so in the warmer seasons, wildlife may come in.The 95-year-old building is not polished to a high shine down to the last detail.We are preparing to welcome you as clean as possible, but we would appreciate it if you could come with a big heart. We use the accommodation fees we receive from guests to repair the building, and I would like to start by taking care of this wonderful house for about 20 years so that it can be passed on to the next generation.

Building features The wooden house has a single-flow roof with a loft, plaster walls, and plenty of Kiso cypress, and you will be soothed by the scent of cypress.

You can relax in a renovated space in a traditional wooden house. A wood stove is available in winter and air conditioning in summer. At night you can see lots of stars and shooting stars. There is a floor space unique to the Japanese-style room, and there is also a space called "ma" designed in the living space, where you can decorate and enjoy seasonal flowers and trees. We can bring you a hot breakfast every morning if you want. You can use the kitchen to cook meals. Cooking utensils and basic seasonings (oil, salt, pepper) are provided. Please ask me This house was built 60 years ago. It was built using wood cut from the mountain we own. We renovated it with environmentally friendly Benjamin Moore paint. The floor of the entire house is cypress flooring. OSMO natural paint is used in the guest rooms. The walls are finished by artisans.

The accommodation is located in the centre of Narai-juku. It is a 6-minute walk from JR Narai Station, has free parking for 2 cars, and is the best place for the whole family to relax and enjoy themselves. We look forward to welcoming you. It is located in a highland area at an altitude of about 940m, so it is cool in the morning and evening even in summer, but it is hot during the day, so air conditioning is installed. Using this place as a base, you can go to Torii Pass, stroll around the post town, and do sightseeing in the surrounding area. If you come by car, you can also take a YABUHARA taxi to Kamikochi or the bus terminal in Norikura Kogen in about an hour. The neighbouring town of "Yabuhara" is famous for "Orokkushi". The Yukawa Shuzo brewery's sake, "Kisoji", is also famous. The summer festival in Narai on the 11th and 12th of August is a sight to behold. You can wash your clothes and hang them outside to dry, so it's comfortable for a long stay. There are no supermarkets or convenience stores, and there are no restaurants open at night, so you need to prepare food and ingredients and cook for yourself!

The 20-tatami living room has a sunken hearth (currently unavailable) and you can enjoy the old Japanese private house. There are 3 bedrooms, so you can stay with a large number of people, such as family and friends. No meals are provided. You are welcome to use the full kitchen freely. There is a backyard at the end of the dirt floor that continues from the entrance, and you can walk around freely.
