Nishimura-Tei Hanare ― 100-year-old traditional house with kitchen & dining

Nishimura Residence is an old-fashioned Nara-machiya that has been standing on a piece of Nara-machi for more than 100 years. I was a “grandmother” for a long time when I was a child. In Nara Town, there is a pleasant despicable feeling that never changes. "I want to be filled with this pleasant contempt even for future generations." With that in mind, I took care of the empty Nishimura Residence. - Nishimura-Tei is originally a traditional Japanese house which has been here in Nara-machi town over 100 years, where my grandmother used to live in. My mother and I decided to renovate this house to preserve and pass down the virtue of good old days in Japan to the next generation as well as to show it to you.

Stay at Ryunohara Hatago, a 120-year-old farmhouse blending tradition with comfort in Japan’s spiritual heartlands. In the Edo period, Hatagos were small inns where weary travellers could recuperate. Today we’ve revived the tradition with a seamless mix of heritage and modern amenities. Whether stargazing, wading in the crystal-clear waters of the Hidakagawa river, or simply enjoying the company of rare chickens, this is a sanctuary for those seeking renewal and a deeper connection to nature.
