Snapper Lock is a private cottage at the foot of Mt. Mocchomu in Onana, southern Yakushima. The nearest bus stop is a 6-minute walk. It is a quiet place surrounded by nature. The large living room of about 32 ㎡ can accommodate up to 5 people. (One is a sofa bed) The deck has an outdoor table and hammock, and a completely private forest spreads out. You can relax while taking a forest bath. Parking is also available for 2-3 vehicles. There is also a fire pit on the premises. The building was self-built by the owner. The building materials used are Japanese cedar and local cedar. The walls are plastered with lacquer, and the kitchen is made from recycled waste materials. We aim to be an inn that is friendly to both people and the environment, by not providing disposable amenities and keeping equipment to a minimum. There are insects and wild animals on Yakushima, so be careful to keep them out by closing the screens when you open the windows. Note: Several times a year, from 8 am to 9 am during the rainy season, large numbers of "feather ants" will appear on the island.
