A stunning, newly refurbished and tranquil, Dorset holiday cottage. Old School Cottage was built in 1851, and was originally part of the village school. Nestled at the foot of Hambledon Hill, in the village of Shroton, rural rambles are a few steps from the front gate! All the landscape photos shown are only a few metres from the cottage. This is a beautiful place to stay, with a stunning review record. www.oldschoolcottagedorset.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/oldschoolcottagedorset/
“We had a really relaxing time at the Old School Cottage. Its location is in a quiet village off the main road with only the odd car or horse rider passing the door. The hosts, Barry and Shan, were extremely friendly and helpful and we were pleased to find that the cottage had been restored to a surprisingly high standard. It has a cosy feel throughout together with a great kitchen/diner and thoughtful touches, such as homemade cookies, to improve an already good experience. The double bed in the main bedroom looked expensive and was really comfortable and a bath by subtle LED lighting in the en-suite was a treat! There is an impressive choice of walks in the immediate vicinity and the local pub serves great food with a friendly service, so we had every reason to visit it. This is the nicest airbnb we have had the pleasure of staying in, and we intend to return soon.”
The Old Village Hall was converted to living accommodation over 20 years ago as the village population had increased and a larger space was needed to support the community. Its situated just over a mile outside Blandford within a stones throw of the Great Dorset Steam Fair and Larmer Tree Gardens.Ideal location for access to Bath,Salisbury,Dorchester,Poole, Bournemouth and the Jurassic Coast. Great location for walking, running and cycling. Two pubs within walking distance and local shops nearby.
“The Old Village Hall was up there with our best ever Airbnb stays. Debs made us feel so welcome, and her home was kitted out with all that we needed for our 14 month old baby. The house is peaceful and characterful, and in a lovely village. Debs' tips for the area were helpful, and it was great spending time chatting to her. We'd love to return in the future.”
The cottage that we believe was built in 1780. Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Plenty of local walks, to check out our stunning countryside. We are a 10 minute walk to the North Dorset Trailway. Unfortunately there is no pub in the village, we are a 15-20 minute walk to the nearest pub The White Horse in Stourpaine (highly recommend). Conveniently situated for Blandford Camp and the Royal signals museum, the Great Dorset Steam Fair and just a stones throw away from Bryanston School.
“A lovely clean cosy room in a family home full of nice touches (plentiful toiletries, water by bed, phone chargers etc). Tea and coffee always available and a plentiful breakfast. The room and dining area situated on one 'side' of the house with own entrance so private with as little or much interaction with the hosts as you wanted. Treena and Aubrey (and Spud, the cool dog) were lovely and friendly, very helpful even offering us a lift to our local party venue. Thankyou”
