For those who want to enjoy nature, this is an ECO Satoyama experiential Japanese traditional farmhouse. [The charm of the inn] It is a large old private inn built 80 years ago using the pure wood of the countryside.The most appealing feature is the quiet environment of a private rental in a dead-end village.There is a 200 square meter wooden house with a 350 tsubo large garden.Everything will be your own space.It's okay if the kids run around or the baby cries.You can also enjoy a BBQ under the blue sky.The eaves are large, and it is a pleasant environment where you can have a BBQ even if it rains.We also rent out outdoor equipment.Please feel free to contact us.* BBQs with 4 or more people drinking alcohol are allowed until sunset. Experience the charm of traditional Japan with all the senses in this finely crafted townhouse & surrounding garden. Gujo Hachiman is known as the “City of Water”, and owner & architect Yuri Fujisawa has lovingly restored this charming residence to embody the spirit of water. Located below the town’s medieval castle, this neighborhood was reserved for high-ranking samurai. While the historical streetscape is well-preserved, it remains an authentic neighborhood inhabited by friendly locals.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

There is beautiful bath and Hammam faced on the garden, at night time, you will see deers through living room.

"Kyoto no Oyado Souju" is a private townhouse 5 minutes on foot from Keihan Shimizu Gojo Station.

Our inn was apparently built in the early Showa period. We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee. The price is scheduled to increase from March 2026.
