"Villa Hikone Castle" is a 1-group private rental inn located in the center of Hikone sightseeing, a 9-minute walk to Hikone Castle, a 4-minute walk to Yonbancho Square where Hikonyan appears, and a 3-minute walk to Castle Road, where there are restaurants and souvenir shops. It can accommodate up to 10 people. Parking is available for up to 3 cars free of charge. It is located in a very quiet area dotted with the footlight mansions of the Hikone clan from the Edo period, and the Serikawa River is also nearby for a pleasant stroll. Free parking is available on the premises. Parking is available for up to 3 regular vehicles. For large vehicles, it may be difficult to park 3, so please inquire in advance. 京町家コテージkarigane

Built in the early Showa era and long used as a tea ceremony classroom, the townhouse has been reborn as a private rental inn, "Kyomachiya Cottage karigane". It is a 1-minute walk to the hot springs and Daikokuji Temple, which has deep ties to tea. Shino, with its unique cafes, coffee roasters, delicious Japanese confectionery stores, bakeries, and soba shops. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
