KAIWA NO SATO This old house is an indigo mansion built in the first year of the Bunsei era (1804) during the heyday of indigo. The main house and the sleeping area (a barn where indigo was stored) have been demolished due to aging, but the historic living room and garden have been preserved to allow guests to experience a little bit of that time, and it is used as a farmhouse inn. In the old days, "Indigofera" grew on the fertile land of the Yoshino River basin in Tokushima Prefecture, bringing great wealth to Tokushima Prefecture (Awa Province). Ancient documents on indigo, including cultural properties, are also available for viewing. A private rental accommodation limited to one group per day is now open along the coast near Shimonada Station in Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture. You can overlook the Seto Inland Sea, and on the first floor, you can cook in a stylish kitchen while watching the sunset. On the second floor, you can watch the sunset on the terrace and make things. There is one queen sized bed. There is one Koala sofa bed that can be converted to a queen size bed.　 There is one double bed on the second floor. It can accommodate up to 4 people. Natural yeast bread and Rodan coffee are included for breakfast. The tableware is the work of Tomoya Sasaki, a potter from Ehime Prefecture, and uses Mustakibi and Ryusen kilns. For towels, we use Iori towels from Imabari Towel.　Linen sheets are used. If you need dinner, you can use the adjacent Shioji restaurant, which is for guests only. The price is the same for 1 or 2 people, and an additional charge per person will be incurred from the 3rd person. The first floor is the living room and the second floor is the bedroom. Size: 108.5 ㎡ (1st floor 85 ㎡, 2nd floor 23.5 ㎡) If you need more than one bedroom, there are 2 Japanese-style rooms with 10 tatami mats in the back building (with separate entrances, toilets, and verandas), so you can use a total of 3 bedrooms. There is a small river and a nice old house of Japanese style next to the house .The tool of the barbecue is prepared. （Please bring an ignition agent and charcoal） it's comfortable in summer as the temperature is a few degrees lower than in the city. As of 2024, mobile phones have become much easier to connect to. （no wi-fi） The air conditioner was installed in 2022, but it is only on the first floor.Enjoy the natural air. There is a fan. Firewood isn't available from May as it will be warmer.

Ricefields, Rivers and Mountains

This house is a beautiful blend of traditional and modern making it convenient but also authentically Japanese. Mountains and ricefields are beside you, the Shimanto River can be heard. The ground floor is all yours. It's spacious with a large tatami sleeping room that can become two. The A/C is only in one room if the doors are closed. There is no central heating. Restaurants are within 10min or you can prepare local foods in your own equipped kitchen. It’s designed for long and short stays.
