Surrounded by several na pu'u (volcanic cinder cones), the hillside setting has unobstructed views of Haleakala, Maui across the Alenuihaha Channel. Bordering Parker Ranch on the west, the south and east sides are also undeveloped, giving the vacation rental seclusion and privacy. Puuepa is the site of the ancient Mo'okini Heiau (temple) whose origins date back 1,500 years ago to the first human migration from the Marquesas. Puuepa is also the birthplace of King Kamehameha the Great who conquered and unified the Hawaiian Islands. Decades later, St. Damien became the pastor of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church before taking on his destined work of charity at the Kalaupapa Leper Colony on Molokai. Awhalecrossing Gazebo Tiki Hut

Our place is a cute, rustic cottage in the countryside, surrounded by 850 acres. Only 3 miles from Hawi Town and walking distance to ocean and historical trails to Kamehameha's birth site and Mo'okini Heiau. Since we live by pastures we sometimes have geckos (our local lizard). They are our friends because they eat the bugs, which we sometimes have. Awesome ocean and sunset views. During Humpback Whale Season (Dec-Apr) you can sometimes hear the whales sing and flapping their tails.

Located in Volcano, HI- 5 short miles to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Sweet little studio cabin with outside bamboo shower- take a hot shower in the rain! (Please note there is no inside shower). Queen sized bed along with 32” TV, mini fridge, microwave, drip coffee pot and tea kettle. This place is small, but very cute! Tall ceilings with cedar tongue and groove. Small closet with a space to hang your coats. Indoor toilet and sink vanity in bathroom.
