Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Hardin County

Beautiful home and property! The home was so much bigger than the pictures. They don’t do justice to how nice everything was. They had a full kitchen which came in handy for our family and friends. I will definitely be booking again for the next time we come down.

We spent a long weekend at this charming, rustic cabin in Elizabethtown to explore Shawnee National Forest and other scenic areas in southern Illinois. We really enjoyed staying in a 100 year-old cabin that was built to last and had been very cared for over the years. Stephanie was super responsive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy a peaceful weekend in nature. Lots of beautiful rock formations, water falls, and hiking trails within driving distance. I really felt like I was able to see so much of what southern Illinois has to offer. And in the morning and evening we could relax on the deck and watch the passing barges. We’d definitely go back!

Myself and 3 friends stayed at Denise’s place for a short trip. From beginning to end, she was proactive with instructions and great with communication. If you’re looking for a nice, clean, place to stay in the hills of Shawnee, this one is for you!

Nice place to stay. Very accommodating in many ways. Had a lot of the things you wouldn’t think you would need/ host to offer. Good information from host where we were not lost or confused. Yard was very peaceful.

Highly recommend if you’re visiting the Garden of the Gods area! The location is perfect, and the property itself is spacious, new, and very well maintained. The host is incredibly friendly and clearly prioritizes the guest experience. Thoughtful touches like a great selection of board games, a ping pong table, and even poker chips make the stay even more enjoyable.

The house was close for a family/group to hike the wonderful trails in the area. The Outpost where you check in is a great little souvenir shop and helpful.

This place is a dream! The roundhouse is not only architecturally stunning but also beautifully styled with clean, minimalist Scandinavian design—think warm wood tones, neutral colors, and cozy textures that make the space feel both elegant and inviting. It was immaculately clean and clearly well cared for. The property itself is a peaceful haven. We loved waking up to views of the pond, relaxing in the jacuzzi under the stars, and spending evenings by the firepit. The BBQ setup made it easy to enjoy meals outside, and every little detail—from lighting to layout—was perfect for unwinding. The host was fantastic: responsive, friendly, and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This is hands-down one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve had. If you’re looking for a stylish and serene escape, this is the one. Already dreaming of our return visit!

What a beautiful place nestled in the woods—a little piece of heaven! Surrounded by blooming bluebells, a variety of birds perfect for birdwatching, a peaceful creek with a tire swing, and even an outdoor projector for movie nights—this place has it all and more. Located near Shawnee Forest trails, including the stunning Garden of the Gods, it’s the ideal spot for outdoor adventures. This was our second stay, and once again, everything was perfect. The hosts are incredibly accommodating and quick to respond. Highly recommend!
