“In one word, this place is peaceful. I'm a city girl, but this place makes me want to get my own secluded chalet. It's private but also close to everything you would need. The decor is lovely, the space is beyond functional, and Jane and Paul are very helpful and quick to reply. The seasonal decor and extra touches made our holiday trip extra special. We are very happy with our stay here!”
Built in 1917, this remodeled two story salt box home overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is nestled at the far end of Upper Island Cove, which is named "The Walled City" because it was built at the bottom of high cliffs. The magnificent scenery will not disappoint - whale watch or view large icebergs from the front deck. Hike the barren lands and sight see using the community lookout located less than a minute walk away. Come experience a piece of our history and breathtaking views.
“This home is 5 star plus. Tastefully decorated, stylish yet so cozy. Gorgeous kitchen with everything you will need. Comfy beds. So clean and tidy. And the location, while not remote, can boast one of the best panoramic ocean views with a lookout just a short walk from home. The host was amazing and will answer questions right away. We can’t wait to book our next stay.”
Welcome to Old Foolishness! A lovingly restored turn of the century traditional Newfoundland Saltbox house in the peaceful village of Upper Island Cove, Million Dollar View overlooking Conception Bay, see whales, icebergs, ships passing, all from your private deck , just a 10 minute drive from Bay Roberts and an hour from the St. John’s.
“If you want the peace and tranquility of the water crashing on the shore or watching the stars at night, then this is the place. Keep in mind that it is Newfoundland and the clouds do have a tendency to move in but that is part of the experience. Also , this adds to the coziness to "Old Foolishness"! Close to the little bays and coves and a bit more than an hour from St.Johns, this is a perfect place to unwind! Nicely appointed with a great nautical themes (who knew whales would be a nice butter dish!) and room enough for everyone to enjoy, you won`t go wrong”
