Del Sol Treehouse is the whimsically imagined home of a Victorian naturalist from a bygone era. Perched among the treetops overlooking Hobart's harbour, this handcrafted sanctuary is designed for a bespoke stay where the days are marked by the changing light, wild weather, and the slow pleasure of a good cup of tea. Filled with botanical curiosities and vintage finds gathered over time, it is a place with its own quiet story, and it is entirely yours, just ten minutes from the heart of Hobart.
The space
When you wander inside, timelines seem to shift. The shelves hold items of history that tell stories. The timber creaks with familiarity. The bedding is so inviting that you want to sink in and never leave.
Del Sol has clearly been loved into existence, and for the duration of your stay, it is entirely yours to enjoy and explore.
Elevated on tall, natural timber poles and wrapped in dappled sunlight, the treehouse embodies a particular kind of Tasmanian design: unhurried, textural and deeply connected to place.
Sustainable timber, handcrafted details, and bespoke vintage finds gathered over time give the space a feeling that is both nostalgic and uniquely its own.
The Canopy (Upper level)
Perched in the treetops, the upper level opens to sweeping views across the harbour and the hills beyond. The kind of view that stops you mid-sentence and draws you back again and again to see what has changed. A plush queen bed dressed in luxe linen, a full kitchen with charming checkerboard tiles for slow, shared meals and a generous daybed for reading, resting or simply watching the light shift across the bay. Step outside to the wraparound balcony where a hammock sways between the timber trunks. Settle in with a glass of wine and watch the yachts move quietly with the tide as the hills turn gold.
Seahorse Studio (Lower level)
Tucked beneath the canopy and embraced by the garden, the Seahorse Studio is a quieter world entirely. Dappled afternoon light filters through the trees. A king bed dressed in soft linen waits at the end of the day. And in the bathroom, a vintage bathtub, stocked with bath salts and bubble bath, offers the kind of luxuriating soak that reminds you what evenings are actually for.
Both levels are self-contained with their own private entrances, connected by a winding outdoor spiral staircase, allowing guests to move between spaces freely or retreat into their own quiet corner when the mood calls for it.
Beyond the treehouse, Hobart rewards the curious. Spend your days at MONA, wandering Salamanca Markets, climbing the trails of kunanyi/Mt Wellington or exploring the beaches and bushwalks that frame the harbour. Then return. Come back to the stillness of the trees, warm your hands on a steaming mug of hot chocolate and remember the particular pleasure of a place that has been waiting only for you.
Guest access
When you book Del Sol Treehouse, the entire property is exclusively yours: both levels, the wraparound balcony, and the surrounding gardens.
The Canopy and Seahorse Studio each have their own private entrance and key safe, connected by an outdoor spiral staircase. Move freely between the two, or settle into your own space and let the other find its own quiet.
As with any handcrafted timber home, sound travels naturally between levels. Footsteps and soft voices may carry from above to below. We mention this not to alarm, but so you can settle in with full ease.
Check-in is contactless via secure key safes, and free street parking is available directly in front of the property.
Metro bus stops are a short walk away, and the Derwent Ferry terminal is around 20 minutes on foot, a lovely connection to Hobart, MONA and the waterfront. Note that the ferry runs on a seasonal timetable, so we recommend checking their website before you travel.
Other things to note
Del Sol is a handcrafted home built into a sloped block, and a few things are worth knowing before you arrive.
The external staircase between levels is steep and spiral in nature, and the garden pathways are rocky and uneven in places. The property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility or those travelling with very heavy luggage.
At times, guests in the lower level may be able to hear guest movements above.
The Seahorse Studio bathroom features a step-in bathtub with a handheld showerhead rather than a fixed overhead shower.
There is no television or microwave at Del Sol. This is a deliberate choice, made in the spirit of the space: to invite a slower, analogue kind of stay.
For guests staying longer than five nights, a complimentary mid-stay service is included and scheduled on a preferred date in consultation with the guest at the beginning of their stay. For guests staying less than 5 nights, housekeeping services are available upon request for an additional fee (at least 48 hours notice).
We encourage you to read the listing information carefully and review the photos to ensure the space will comfortably suit your needs before booking.
