The space
Del Sol Treehouse is the imagined home of a naturalist collector from a bygone era. This handcrafted pole house is a design-led sanctuary where botanical curios and vintage treasures are carefully gathered, and time slows amongst the treetops. You are invited not just to stay, but to linger.
Elevated on tall timber poles and wrapped in dappled sunlight, Del Sol embodies Tasmanian design with sustainable timber, textured linens, bespoke vintage finds and a connection to place. It offers a uniquely Tasmanian experience that feels both nostalgic and entirely its own.
Just ten minutes from Hobart, this elevated hideaway provides the best of both worlds. You will find peaceful seclusion in nature while staying close to local dining, shops, bushwalks and the Derwent Ferry with easy connections to the MONA ferry. It is a sanctuary for guests who crave stillness and a gentle encouragement to rest, reconnect and restore.
The Canopy (Upper level)
Perched in the treetops, the upper level is a sun-drenched retreat with sweeping water views. Designed for slow living, it features a plush queen bed dressed in linen, a full kitchen for shared meals that stretch into the evening and a generous living space with a daybed for reading, resting, or simply watching the light change across the bay.
Step outside to the wraparound balcony where a hammock sways between timber trunks and invites long, unhurried afternoons. Settle into the outdoor high bar with a wine and watch the hills turn gold as dusk settles over the water.
Seahorse Studio (Lower level)
Tucked beneath, the lower level is a peaceful cocoon embraced by the garden. With a generous king bed and a vintage bathtub designed for slow soaks, this space invites quiet reverie. A simple breakfast bar provides the essentials for easy mornings, whether you rise early to explore or choose to savour a gentle start.
Both levels have private entries and are linked by outdoor spiral stairs, allowing guests to spend time together while keeping the option for peaceful privacy.
Wake to the sun easing over the mountain and yachts drifting with the tide. Spend your days exploring MONA, Salamanca, Mt Wellington or the local beaches, or simply stay home and let the treehouse work its quiet magic. As evening falls and the lights of Hobart shimmer in the distance, you will feel entirely at ease, whether you have roamed far or never left at all.
To keep you comfortable during the dramatic Tasmanian winters, each level contains a reverse cycle air conditioner, extra blankets in the colder months and hot water bottles. The Canopy also has an oil heater in the bedroom.
In both bathrooms, there are heated towel rails to keep towels dry and fluffy all year round, and the underfloor heated tiles are turned on during the colder months.

- The Seahorse Studio bathroom contains a combined bathtub/shower with a handheld showerhead only.

Guest access
When you book Del Sol Treehouse, you will have exclusive use of the entire property, including both levels and all outdoor spaces such as the wrap-around balcony and surrounding gardens.
The Canopy on the upper level and the Seahorse Studio on the lower level are connected by external wooden spiral stairs, and each has its own private entrance and key safe. This layout allows guests to enjoy the full rhythm of the treehouse, moving freely between spaces while still offering moments of quiet retreat when desired.
As Del Sol Treehouse is a handcrafted timber home, sound can naturally travel between levels. Guests staying on the lower level may hear footsteps and or voices from those staying above.
Self check in is available via secure key safes, and unlimited free street parking is available at the front of the property.
Public transport is conveniently located nearby, with Metro bus stops and the Derwent Ferry within a 20 minute walk, offering easy access to Hobart, MONA and the surrounding area.
Please note that the Derwent Ferry operates on a limited seasonal timetable, so we recommend checking their website for current times.
Other things to note
Please be aware that Del Sol Treehouse includes steep and uneven external stairs between levels, rocky garden pathways and a step-in bathtub with a handheld showerhead only in the Seahorse Studio. These features may be challenging for guests with mobility limitations or very heavy luggage, and the property is not suitable for young children.
At times, guests in the lower level may be able to hear guest movements above.
