Boutique Coastal Retreat: Couples/Singles

BredaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Rossalina's place was spotless and tastefully furnished. Great location with ocean views. Close to lovely restaurants, shops, parks, ocean. The bedroom was small but the bathroom great with an extra room for the kitchen. There is a treadmill for those inclined. All-in-all a great short stay property.

The Carriage

DivyaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
The carriage was such a great find on Airbnb! Absolutely loved our stay there. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and even some basic pantry items (salt, pepper, oil, etc.). The bed was super comfortable. The bathtub was exactly what we needed in the cold winter. The owners have done a stunning job refurbishing the train carriage. The surroundings were so peaceful and idyllic. Our pup had a great time saying hello to the goats and chickens that they have roaming around. They also have a dog that was very calm around our anxious little pup. Overall, would highly recommend and would definitely book again if we need a quick getaway that’s not too far of a drive.

El Caballo Tiny Escape by Tiny Away

JessicaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Helen & Mark’s property was stunning! Really well maintained and looked after! The tiny house was at the back of the property and while easy to get to with the instructions, clear drive way and signage they have created it felt private from the main house with beautiful trees and the clever layout. And while the bed, linen, heating, shower etc were all extremely comfortable, it was no means luxury, but nor was the price! It was extremely clean and we felt very snug and able to relax. The surroundings were excellent with beautiful country side and while only 1 hour ish out of Perth we really felt in the country! The animals were such a bonus! The horses and dogs were so lovely and Helen helped us pat them etc Helen was an absolute delight and we could have chatted to her for hours! Such a beautiful person! Although we loved chatting, she definitely would have left us alone if that’s what we wanted. They never interrupted us or intruded on our stay.

Villa The Vines

INCREDIBLE stay! Me & my partner stayed with our 6 month old and there was ample space for the three of us. Heather & her family were beyond gracious. They brought us breakfast baskets with fresh eggs, scones & juice each morning. The tiny house is absolutely beautiful & super aesthetic with incredible attention to detail! Cannot fault our stay & one of the best value for money Airbnbs I’ve ever booked.

Terry the Train Carriage at Marriup

Ritihia MirangiRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Thankyou too james and Erin for hosting us and also arya. Thank you for the beautiful wine and card. Ps. We took the card we love it. Terry the train was perfect for the two of us so cosey and just what we wanted. Having the pool on the property was a bonus especially during summer amazing area to swim right under the trees. What a beautiful place to book for the night away from the riff raff, very peaceful, relaxing, stunning views surrounded by nature. Also I’d recommend the track it is beautiful to walk at night and no doubt arya is right beside you. I’ll definitely be back here again. Highly recommend.

Your guide to Gingin

Welcome to Gingin

One of the oldest towns in Western Australia, Gingin was settled in 1831, only two years after the first British colony was established in the state. The quiet country town is around a five-minute drive off the Brand Highway, the major inland road heading north from Perth to the coastal city of Geraldton. It’s a great base for exploring the small towns of the Chittering Valley. This fertile valley is dotted with farm gates and vineyards and cute towns such as Bindoon, New Norcia, and Wannamal.

Gingin itself sits on a big looping bend in Gingin Brook, a tree-lined waterway cutting through the compact centre of town. Many of Gingin’s colonial buildings remain intact, with most of the surviving 19th-century buildings clustered around the brook along Weld Street, the main road through town. It’s on this street you’ll find the grassy banks and old shade trees of the popular riverside Granville Park.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Gingin

Without sea breezes to moderate the summer heat, Gingin experiences a long, dry hot season. By late spring you’ll encounter summer-like conditions that last to mid-autumn. Even late autumn days are warm, although the nights will be much cooler by the time the Gingin British Car Day kicks off in May in Granville Park: Hundreds of lovingly restored classic and antique British cars line up alongside food trucks and market stalls at this event. Winter in Gingin is mild but wet, with much more rain than the summer months. Wildflower season starts in July and continues until mid-spring — Gingin is one stop on a wildflower trail across the Chittering Valley.

Top things to do in Gingin

Gingin Walkabout Trail

Gingin’s compact town centre is filled with historic buildings dating from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century. Pick up a trail map from the town’s visitor centre on Brockman Street and check out the cluster of old homes, churches, and civic buildings in the streets around Gingin Brook.

Gravity Discovery Centre

One of the state’s premier science education facilities, the not-for-profit Gravity Discovery Centre and Observatory is a 20-minute drive from Gingin. Here you’ll find a cosmology gallery as well as the Leaning Tower of Gingin, at which you can recreate famous gravity experiments. And at the centre’s telescope observatory, you can reimagine the night sky during Aboriginal astronomy sessions with a local Indigenous elder.

Yanchep National Park

Home to one of the biggest populations of koalas in the state, Yanchep National Park is a 40-minute drive from Gingin on the way from the coast. The national park is also home to western grey kangaroos as well as emus, parrots, and waterbirds. Check out the wildlife on trails ranging from full-day hikes to leisurely short walks.
