Your guide to Yallingup

All About Yallingup

Yallingup is a picturesque beach town situated on the west coast of the Margaret River Region in southwest Australia. It’s also a natural wonderland that’s breathtaking at every turn. Yallingup faces the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, with vast stretches of white sand that are bound by coastal bushland, rocky shorelines, and iconic surf breaks that lure surfers from around the world. Witness dazzling views of the seascape as you walk along the boardwalk at Canal Rocks, take a dip in the azure waters of Smiths Beach, or spend the day checking out one of the many coastal hikes. For sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, ascend the 59 steps of the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and take in the scenery from the observation platform.

Yallingup is also brimming with vineyards and wineries, some of which sprawl down near the shorelines, and you’ll have ample opportunity here to sample some of Australia’s finest wines. A trip to Yallingup isn’t complete without exploring its thriving arts and cultural scene. Browsing the galleries, studios, and boutiques here offers insight into the artisans that comprise this creative community.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Yallingup

The summer and autumn months boast pleasant temperatures and limited rainfall, making these times some of the best to rent a beach house in Yallingup and explore the town’s beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and limestone caves. During the winter and spring, temperatures remain cool, and rainfall is much more common. September marks the Margaret River Open Studios event, during which you can visit the private studios of over 100 illustrators, sculptors, jewellers, and photographers. Anywhere from June to December, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the annual whale migration. Several spots sprinkled along the coast, including Canal Rocks, provide excellent views of the migration.

Located southwest of Yallingup, you’ll find Canal Rocks, which comprise unique granite coastal formations and channels carved out by the currents and waves of the Indian Ocean. The bridge provides sweeping views of the vibrant waters and rugged coastline and provides magnificent sunset views.

Meelup Beach

Meelup Beach boasts pearly white sand and clear, turquoise water.
