Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Galena

My husband and I stayed for a night while in the area exploring Maquoketa Cave State Park and Crystal Lake Cave. The inn was conveniently located between both attractions. The room was clean and cozy, the kitchen was thoughtfully stocked, and the host was friendly and responsive. The real show stopper is the brewery in the historical barn on the property. It’s gorgeous, the beers are delicious and the staff is friendly! Would make a special trip just to come back to the brewery!

Gehlen House was charming and historical. It was beyond clean, and extremely comfortable. Kari thought of everything and paid attention to detail. She provided amenities for us before we even realized we wanted it The area was comfortable, the shared spaces were large enough to accommodate everyone and it was decorated beautifully. She even put food in the refrigerator and provided breakfast items for us. I hope to return and would highly recommend Kari and Don in the future! Make sure you get to the barn!

We needed a place to get off the road on short notice and we were fortunate to find this beautiful historic place to lay our heads. Kari was friendly and her inn was well appointed. I wish we had time to examine all the historical info and visit the beer barn. We had a peaceful quiet night.

It was clean and cute and quaint. We were able to walk to downtown and leave our car parked.

Excellent place to stay! Vey comfortable large room and bathroom with jetted tub. Best part was breakfast. Best pancakes I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t even call them pancakes, they r something else. Thanks for being such a great host Paul. My wife and I would love to come back and will be recommending your place to friends and family for sure.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Paul was very hospitable and the place was cozy and very accommodating. We felt right at home. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous and we loved the historic feel of the building. If we’re in galena again, we’ll be back.

We had an amazing stay. it was clean, cozy, and quiet. Paul made us feel right at home immediately and is very kind. The breakfast was great; warm and fresh. Everything included in this b&b plus being able to walk around the amazing town of Galena made it an amazing trip for us and we definitely will be visiting again.

Paul was an excellent host, I stayed in the tower room and every penny i spent was well worth it! Galena isn’t the closest drive to me, so walking into the bed and breakfast, being greeted by Paul himself, was definitely a warm and comfortable way to end my busy day! He even gives you a quick tour, gives you a bit of knowledge on the house, and leaves you with all the essentials to relax. Breakfast is phenomenal!!!!

This was by far the best experience me and my wife have had at an Air BnB/Bed and Breakfast. As soon as we booked, Miriam got in touch with us and sent us a list of cool places to visit and things to do. As soon as we arrived she was waiting for us on the porch and have us a tour of the property. Our room was great, it had everything you needed.The bathroom was beautiful and she had the shower stocked with homemade soap, shampoo, and conditioner. At night time she had the livingroom stocked with good wine for a nightcap. There is a complete kitchenette with a refrigerator and anything you need. In the morning Miriam made a delicious breakfast and had orange juice and coffee ready for us. Im a picky eater and she had heard that I usually only eat a poptart for breakfast so she went out of her way and made me a homemade poptart dish along with food for the other guests. She was so sweet and had such good stories. Shes so easy to talk to. We walked away with a lifelong friend.

The property is beautiful. Miriam had great communication with us through the whole experience. She even went the extra mile and went and got some cake and ice cream for my mother to help me celebrate her birthday. Breakfast was great, and Miriam was overall a very kind and accommodating host. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable and so was the shared space. It was wonderful to sit out on the deck and there were a lot of seating options. Very close to restaurants and amenities in town. In fact, within walking distance!
