Two good pubs are within 1.5 miles in either direction and the historic towns of Beaulieu and Lymington are 3 miles and 4.5 miles respectively away. The quaint historic shipyard of Bucklers Hard nearby has a museum, pub and marina. IOW close too.

This unique place has a style all its own. Designed in a Japanese way with it's own Water Garden, terrace and boardwalk. Captains Retreat Cottage is a private one bedroom ( very comfy 6ft superking) cottage in the heart of Lymington. Free unlimited parking a few minutes walk away.The high street is 5 mins walk , lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and a museum. There is a very popular market on Saturdays. At the bottom of the high street is the stunning Lymington quay on the cobbles, a popular place for a coffee or grab a local boat trip. Nearby there are beautiful walks and a marina. Well behaved dogs welcome.

Step out of the back gate and onto the bridleway leading over the downs to our favourite place, Compton Bay.

Located in Freshwater in West Wight, it is close to the local shops and in walking distance to the picturesque beaches of Colwell Bay and Totland Bay.
