Prom & Ocean views - 300m to beach

ElizabethRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful long weekend at the house with our 3 year old and 6 year old and my elderly parents. Who needs a tv when there was lots to explore close by. The house was so cosy and we had everything we needed. Anna was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. A great family stay in a beautiful home and location.

Corvers Rest

A beautiful house which really makes the most of the ocean views. We really enjoyed the design of this house with great natural light and versatile spaces. Despite having a very cold snap with the weather, the house was quick to warm and remained warm when the heating was off. Great location with easy car access to Philip Island and surrounds, but otherwise very peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.

Fish Creek Farm Getaway

NerisaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This place is worth every penny! Major about out to Meaghan for being so helpful before, during, and at the end of our trip. She provided clear instructions on how to find the property, had a handy guide on local things to see and do, and even let me know the amazing scents she had in the house. This also has to be the cleanest Airbnb I've stayed at. Everything was spotless, well maintained, and with so many items to really make it a comfortable stay. There was plenty of wood for the fireplace (and it was stoked even before we arrived), the kitchen had plenty of utensils to allow for home cooking, as well as all your cooking basics and some sneaky chocolate treats. The cows are a friendly wake up call each morning and the house is so peaceful with beautiful views as far as the eye can see. It's also well located to a lot of tiny towns and a short drive to Wilson's Prom making it a great base for prom hikes. Finally, the king bed is stupidly comfortable and fluffy doona to match.

Agnes the Tiny House

Bridget’s place was beyond our expectations. The location was on a stunning bush block, the house was super cosy with a very comfy bed and an awesome lounge space. It’s great for quiet weekends of reading and board games, for trips to the Prom, and there are enough amenities in local towns if you need to pop out for food etc. Bridget was very friendly but not intrusive- she was helpful and responsive. I am already planning my next trip back!

Farm cabin in the Foster hills

RachelRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a wonderful weekend in serenity, visiting the local towns and travelling to Wilson’s Prom. The location is quite remote but with Thai in mind Bryan and Clarice have the cabin stocked so well with amenities. We loved the fire for that extra special touch. Thanks for having us.

Loved our little winter getaway at Cass’s place. Homely and warm, with beautiful views over the inlet. The house has everything you need, comfortable beds & linen and beautiful extras in the kitchen and bathroom. Cass was extremely responsive and accomodating in her communication. The house was perfectly based for a few days exploring Wilson Prom and surrounds. Would love to visit again.

Your guide to Fish Creek

Welcome to Fish Creek

In the rolling hills of Victoria’s South Gippsland region, the tiny town of Fish Creek punches well above its weight as an arts and culture hub. A browser’s delight, the historic village is packed with boutique stores, galleries, artists’ studios, and cafes with scenic rural views. Popular with cyclists, Fish Creek sits on the Great Southern Rail Trail, a 72-kilometre route between Leongatha and Port Welshpool that reconnected the towns along the former rail line after it was closed in 1994.

Fish Creek also lies at the gateway to Wilsons Promontory, the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, which is protected by a national park laced with walking trails. With the beaches of Waratah Bay and Sandy Point less than 15 minutes’ drive south of Fish Creek, and a bounty of farm gates and breweries to discover in the surrounding hills, Fish Creek makes a great base for exploring this picturesque corner of Victoria.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Fish Creek

Fish Creek is a year-round destination, though if you’re visiting on two wheels, the milder months of spring and autumn tend to be more comfortable for long cycles on the rail trail. This is also a great time to explore nearby Wilsons Promontory National Park, where wildflowers bloom in spring, though the warmer summer months are ideal for swimming at the park’s pristine beaches. The winter months, on the other hand, proffer superb whale watching.

Celebrating its quirky arts scene, Fish Creek hosts the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival each May, with handmade tea cosy displays and prizes awarded in several categories. Fish Creek also hosts cultural events as part of the biennial Prom Coast Festival held in March that celebrates community artists, creators, performers, and producers.

Top things to do in Fish Creek

Eat your way around South Gippsland

Packed with farm-gate stalls, produce markets, country restaurants, ambient cellar doors, and other culinary delights, South Gippsland is the kind of place where you’ll want to be wearing your stretchy pants. All foodie locations are conveniently mapped on the Eat. Drink. Gippsland guide, which you can download from the Visit Gippsland website.

Foster

Just 13 kilometres northeast of Fish Creek, the former gold mining town of Foster also has a vibrant arts scene, with a handful of galleries in the town centre. Visit the Foster Museum to learn about the area’s gold, forestry, dairying, and social history before relaxing in a local cafe, or heading to the Foster North Lookout on the South Gippsland Highway to admire the sweeping views.

Mount Nicoll Lookout

Around seven kilometres from Fish Creek toward Foster is the Mount Nicoll Lookout, where you can soak up dreamy panoramas across the sapphire-hued Corner Inlet to the verdant mountains of Wilsons Promontory. There’s a car park at the lookout, but you can also walk here from Fish Creek via the Hoddle Mountain Trail, a challenging 17-kilometre loop circuit that takes around six hours to complete.
