A day like a gift (Welcoming you in the forest, Minjoo Mountain)

'A day like a gift' is an experience-type accommodation located in the forest at the top of Domaryeong (700m above sea level) in Minjujisan, Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. We have remodeled a wooden house (Dalbat House, 2005) and a family-built earthen house (So Young Hall, 2006) for our elderly parents, so that only one team of guests can stay in the entire house. Recently, a tree house (Wol Forest House, 2024) was built on a 6-7 meter-high Japanese cedar tree in the Wol Forest, and this can also be experienced for free. The experience is divided into traditional cultural experiences and ecological experiences, which are offered in a variety of paid and free experiences. The mud house was built with wood, earth, and stone from the moon field, like the mountain village of our ancestors. You can experience lighting a fire in a traditional house, where you can feel the wisdom of a house that is cool and warm. The words 'A day like a gift' are engraved in the merchant room of the mud house. We will try to give everyone who comes here a simple gift called 'a day like a gift'.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. 「Tabitabi Taishi」 remodeled from a traditional Japanese-style [Machiya]. It is designed with a lot of hand-dyed Japanese style Tang paper, wallpapers made of tin and gold foils, and other traditional Japanese crafts and elements. We also retain the original properties of the machiya. Here, you can experience the original and traditional Japan, and also you can feel the ingenuity of combining modern elements with traditional craftsmanship.

KIRISIMIZU Guest House

“Maison d’hotes KIRISI MIZU”, is a Irimoya style (traditional Japanese house, similar to Temple) that has been beautifully restored from traditional materials and passed down from my grate-grand parents generation. The entire house is done in a classic style as used to be, except for a newly built kitchen, toilet and bathroom that provide all the necessities of modern life.
