Gathering Moss Cottage is located 2 blocks from the Isle Au Haut ferry dock and the Colwell ramp and a fabulous local restaurant Fin and Fern. Stop by 44 North Coffee just around the corner and catch the local gossip. The cottage is so close to amenities but is tucked away in the woods at the top of the hill. Deer and fox wander into the yard and eagles and osprey fly overhead. There are many artists' studios to visit or take a trip to Acadia National Park just a little over an hour away.

Double bed in upstairs loft, sun porch offers additional sleeping area on fold out futon. Picnic table and fire pit at cove’s edge with beautiful views. Fresh water pond for swimming in village. 15 minutes from Stonington, day trip to Acadia, fresh lobster around the corner and close to Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies. Must be seen to be believed.

My husband and I stayed at Nicole’s for 4 days in September and it was so peaceful, beautiful, and rejuvenating. The studio lets in natural light with a scenic view of a meadow in the back where we watched her horse Caspian grazing while we drank our morning coffees. It was the perfect escape into a place that felt one with nature. The beach is 3 houses down from her property and we enjoyed walking our dogs down there and exploring at low tide. The place itself was extremely clean, comfortable, and we really enjoyed cooking dinners in the kitchenette and found it to have everything we needed to make meals. Nicole was very responsive, welcoming, and so helpful with recommendations. She kindly gave us eggs from her hens as a welcome gift which we enjoyed as breakfast one of the days. Deer Isle has a lot to offer in the way of nature trails, local artists, and delicious food. We would definitely stay with her again!

Dindy’s Room with a View is a calm retreat where you can sip your morning coffee and watch the shifting tides amidst the changing light, and if you wake early enough, the sunrise through the windows or from a bench specially placed alongside the private pier. We were charmed by the local visitors: yellow finches at the feeders, the resident fox, and a pair of mallard ducks, the male standing watch over the female as she ate, and vice versa. Getting to meet our host and share some stories was a special treat.

Cynthia’s place is beautiful. It’s an easy walk (or 3 minute drive) to downtown, and the upstairs deck has a view of the port and town. We were very comfortable and only wish we could have stayed longer. Cynthia is a great host, too - eager to share the best of Stonington and easy to communicate with. Be sure to get some lobsters right off the boat at Greenhead lobster co (a short walk away) and ask Cynthia where to stream them (outside)

What an amazing place! The view of the shore from the house is beautiful and a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. An easy walk to the shoreline is such an advantage to this lovely cabin. Comfortable and well equipped. We look forward to returning.

What a perfect vacation hideaway! We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful location with a charming home. Lauren is a perfect host. The kitchen included all the essentials to cook and prepare meals, everything was clean and inviting. The extra blankets, bug spray and sun screen was a very thoughtful touch. Prefect location if you want to explore Deer Isle and need a quiet getaway. Loved hearing the rooster in the morning from a near by farm. We enjoyed our stay immensely an cannot wait to stay there again.

Reach Winds Classic Maine seaside 2 bdrm. cottage

This was my second time staying at Reach Winds, and I’ve been dreaming of a return since my first stay. It’s such a special place. Waking up to the view and the sun streaming in, sitting on the deck watching the tide roll in and out - it’s just magical. Basha is warm, an expert in the area and eager to share suggestions. (We took most of them and enjoyed the hikes, swims, shopping, food and wine throughout the trip.) Her eye is impeccable with the most perfectly curated Maine coastal cabin. That said, it’s an airbnb for a specific experience. If you want modern amenities, it’s not for you! It’s for someone who wants to be in nature, in a peaceful and private setting, and who doesn’t mind hand washing dishes in the cutest kitchen with a collection of vintage dishware and birds singing outside. (No fox sightings this year, but last time, I watched baby foxed frolick!) It’s a time capsule. If you want that, you’ll find no better lodging in Maine, and no better host than Basha.
