Formally a fortified castle “Fort de La Bastide “ was constructed on the site of a Roman military station. The earliest historical mention is 1417 and it's long history includes an invasion in 1584 by Protestants during the period of the Huguenot wars. The fort has maintained many original features including the old stone staircase at the front door leading up to a 4 bedroomed loft apartment . The creek cottage is in a secluded farmhouse in the heart of the Cévennes National Park. It consists of three different places: A main room. - Fully equipped kitchen with lounge area. - A relaxing office room - A double bedroom with shower and toilet. A door gives access to the private terrace. You also have access to other shared terraces, including one near the stream where you can cool off.
