Stone Casatorre in Alta Toscana

A true 10th-century medieval watchtower of the Malaspina family in the village of Irola (Villafranca in Lunigiana, Alta Toscana): a rare stay amidst ancient stone, period atmosphere and modern comforts. The house is unique in the area and retains authentic details such as centuries-old stones, an exposed chestnut roof, and a bathroom with a shower in the rock. Outside, you will find a private garden with a barbecue and a private patio with a hammock and a rocking chair overlooking the Luni valley and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.

The house dates back to 1871 and is made of stone and has very thick internal walls that allow it to always stay cool throughout the summer. The kitchen opens directly onto the external courtyard, where we have a large table with a masonry barbecue nearby. The garden is located at the front of the house, and there is also a gazebo with sofas. The swimming pool is fenced and is for the exclusive use of guests of the house. The house is adjacent to a small yellow house that I own but do not live in.
