“5 star stay! Our little family had the most lovely time here. It was just what we needed. We loved the fresh country air, and how dark and quiet it got at night - unlike in the city where it's always bright and noisy. The cottage was immaculately clean and there was everything you'd need for a very comfortable stay. The listing says you need to take your own linen, and you'll need to take all consumables you need - down to teabags and milk but that's totally fine. It's a very reasonably priced accommodation with great amenities so it shouldn't be too much trouble to take a few things from home. The Warden and her family are lovely, letting our little boy play with their dogs. The Warden is very knowledgeable on the area and farm's history and very generous with her time sharing her knowledge. We booked cottage B24 with the outside toilet, but think we'll book the other one just for convenience of toileting during the night next time. We'll keep an eye on the calendar and would absolutely love to come back when the museum and main house are open for viewing. I think they'd be really interesting. The donkey, pony and two horses only metres from the front door were a massive hit with our little boy! Thank you for letting him give them a little hay. It was the highlight of the weekend for him! The playground is huge and awesome for little kids. The driving trail was interesting and the cottage was very well stocked with information about the area including places to eat and things to do/see. Thank you for having us and we hope to see you again!”
In 2014 I was fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase an elegant period home that is now known as White Lotus Retreat. In the same way a book finds you, this property certainly found me and it has been an honour to restore her to her original granduer. Having once graced the pages of a respected home and garden magazine, I am proud to be sharing this space with you, where you can relax and unwind. A venue for your memorable stay or event. Please excuse any restoration works in process.
“My family & I recently stayed at The White Lotus Retreat to celebrate our mother’s 90th Birthday. She grew up and lived in Beverley until the age of 12. Ryan’s home is a beautifully appointed, graceful manor. The bedrooms are huge; the beds comfy with beautifully clean, crisp linen and fluffy towels. We loved sitting on the verandah in the afternoon and in the evening gathering in the lounge listening to the awesome vinyl collection of music. Ryan’s attention to detail, little thoughtful touches and prompt communication made our stay so memorable. Thank you again Ryan for a lovely weekend.”
Clydesvale is an original stone house built in 1859 that has been renovated. It is a short walk to the centre of town that has several cafes and restaurants. It is good for couples, but can accommodate up to 4 people, using the second bedroom up some steep steps ( the beds are a little small) or a spare mattress that can be put on the floor. There is also a portable cot. As well as linen & towels I have provided the basics in the kitchen i.e. tea/coffee sugar salt/pepper and long life milk.
“Thanks for a lovely stay Judy. It was like a home away from home. A very comfortable break away. We really appreciated the cottages original features including the wooden floor boards, fireplace, the old kitchen stove and big claw foot bath. Thanks for your prompt feedback and flexible check in/ check out times and the advice about what was on for the weekend in town. We also liked reading the history of the cottage. We hope to be back soon!”
