“I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Memory Lane. My hosts Jo and Terry were very friendly and hospitable, the accommodation was private, quiet and comfortable as well as being close to the main street and amenities. I woke up to delightful birdsong from the surrounding rainforest garden each morning. It has been a pleasure to stay here.”

“Beautiful people, exponentially thoughtful and caring. Bruce & Sandy give far more than expected, and value for money, we were welcomed with freshly baked Scones with fresh cream and homemade Jam, yummy, my wife’s favourite. The fridge was stocked with fresh local fruits, chilled water with fresh lime, local milk and even more surprising was fresh eggs, ham, bread, butter and organic oats for brekky... Inside and out is immaculately clean and tidy, and a very comfortable bed as well. We decided to stay in for dinner and enjoyed a beautiful home cooked meal with 5 star table service😊 The best air bnb experience we have ever had and we have had very many. Real value for money is the Riverside Retreat. Oh and be sure to check out Sandy’s handmade Soaps which she makes at home, they are amazing. We will definitely stay again and recommend Riverside to anyone who wants a clean and peaceful location to stay in Malanda, with good old fashioned service and smiles🙏🏼 Thanks again, looking forward to our next visit.”
Hemingway’s on the Hill is a rustic private indulgence. Set high on the hill, bearing witness to the best of rural life. Cows graze paddocks, and flocks of birds fly overhead. Life is everywhere. Curated by Interior Designer Fifi. She wrote a story for the life to be lived in the space. Like the great man himself, thoughtful yet spare enough with surprises of artful collection. We escaped the city 15 years ago. We found a better life. Come and stay and write your own love story.
“This place makes me sorry I’ve given other 5-star ratings because it sent a new benchmark. What an amazing place to stay! The place is beautifully designed (not just aesthetically - and that is absolutely great), but to provide everything you could possibly need to have an incredibly comfortable stay. From the surprising very generous locally sourced items, to wonderful and fun comfort features like an outdoor deep stone tub and fire place, and providing local tips and all sorts of extra’s to enable you to fully enjoy them - we couldn’t believe how incredibly wonderful it was. We planned initially for 2 days, but decided as soon as we got there to change that to a 4 day stay. It’s the perfect spot from which to explore all of the Atherton Tablelands. Fifi was a perfect host - total respect for privacy, but also frequently checking in to be sure we had everything we needed - and offering more! I would rate this place a 10 if that were possible!”
