Villa holiday rentals in Arenal Volcano

Not only is this my favorite Airbnb I’ve stayed in, it is also one of the most beautiful and thoughtfully decorated homes I’ve stepped foot in. If design and ambience are important to you, you could truly ask for nothing more than what Pura Verde has to offer. The location is about 40 minutes from any major “tourist” excursions, but the drive is easy enough, and worth the distance for the serenity of this home and all the hospitality that the small town of Nuevo Arenal has to offer. Danielle is a sweet and communicative host. She responded immediately to all of my questions and concerns. I always try to plan vacations to someplace new, but it will be hard not to return to Nuevo Arenal to stay in this house specifically. Thank you, Danielle! 💛

The place is great for a relaxed getaway for couples or families. We had amazing time and rested days in the area. House looks like the photos, very clean and nicely decorated. Hosts are very friendly and responsive and help with anything we needed; having them close helps with communication. The house does not have a view to the lake directly, but you can enjoy the amazing gardens and see plenty of birds right in front. When walking a little up the hill, you do get full view of the lake. This side of the lake is a little less busy on restaurants, but there are a still a couple of alternatives if you want to move around. Overall, we were very happy with our holiday and would love to come back.

This was the perfect home for our family of 4 adults and 3 elementary aged kids. We loved the balcony, and spent most of our time at the Airbnb on the balcony, sipping coffee and chatting while we stared at the amazing view, even on cloudy days. The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals at home. The kids loved visiting the animals every morning, and the yard was great for playing ball. If you're sensitive to noise, know that you're in nature and that you'll hear the animals. We woke early but loved watching the birds from the balcony. We walked to the top of the hill each day for a gorgeous view of the surrounding area. Definitely were glad to have 4 wheel drive for the road. Perhaps the best part was how welcoming and warm Eduardo and his family were to us, helping us find directions to trailheads, suggesting the best hot springs, and arranging horseback riding. The home cooked dinner was so delicious, and Eduardo even taught us to make beans. We will be back!

Tucked away location at the end of a valley with scenic mountain backdrops. About a 15 minute drive, from Monteverde, on a steep paved road that turns to dirt when you level out. You can actually see the location in the distance while descending the hill. Large open yard, adjacent orchards, gardens and a trail down to the river make for great downtime when not exploring the surrounding region. Our toddler loved playing throughout the property. Upon entering, we were greeted with a bouquet of local flowers and eggs, bread, and fruits were provided for a breakfast or snacks. Marta was responsive and the one issue we had with adjusting some blinds was resolved quickly.

We loved it so much here! We stayed in 3 different areas when we were in Costa Rica, and this was our favorite stay. It was a perfect location, close by everything but not center of all the noise, so it was peaceful. We loved the little dog on the land, Luna. Such a lil cutie. At first she was scared of us, but then she started to get friendly. They had all the kitchenware you need to cook, which was huge for us. Pots, pans, blender, toaster, oven top, storage containers, mixing bowls, etc. We LOVED the outdoor jacuzzi tub! So nice and easy to use. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone visiting La Fortuna!

Beautiful home with gorgeous yard and wildlife. Just sitting on porch overlooking the yard was a vacation. Easy to get to great restaurants, shops and to tour beautiful wildlife reserves and adventure parks such as zip line and hiking suspended bridges in the treetops. We visited restaurants that we could walk to within 3 minutes of the house. All were amazing! The country is beautiful and the people are all so kind and welcoming. This is where you want to go!

The place was fantastic. Plenty of space and amenities for our group of 4, would be great for up to a group of 8 as well. Everything was clean & updated, views & surrounding neighborhood were amazing, kitchen was well furnished, pool & hot tub were a favorite. We felt safe & welcome our entire time in Costa Rica but the security guard and gate into the community was a nice addition that made us feel more comfortable. Was within 10-20 minutes of most of our activities & restaurants in La Fortuna. Only critique would be to provide more detailed instructions on how to operate the pool & hot tub controls / temperature

Jimmy was so friendly and helped us book so many things. The house was in great condition and a great location. It was a little tricky to find but the pictures he sent were very clear so check in and check out were very easy.

Location location location !!! Walking distance from restaurants and bars. Peaceful day and night. Had some futebol matches and hung out at the pool. Could not be happier!

Our group of three families had a great stay. Everyone had their own space and the cottages were exactly as described. They were extremely helpful in helping us book tours and making restaurant reservations. They also provided us many other tips which made for an incredible first trip to Costa Rica.

Denise and Carmen were extremely friendly and accommodating regarding answers to questions and suggestions starting before we even arrived for check in. The property itself was immaculate and much more spacious and beautiful than the listing photos portrayed. Looking out at the views of the Arenal volcano were just magnificent! The location was just perfect. It was far enough away from some of the busier towns like La Fortuna to feel peaceful and private yet close enough to these towns to allow ease of access for the many local activities we tried out (white water rafting, canyoning, ziplining, etc). We booked Chef Key Anchia to make dinner and it was fantastic! All in all, our only wish would have been to have booked this beautiful home for a longer stay!

Ana was very professional and communicated very well. Place was very nice. We never got the hot tub working which was a bummer but things like that happen.

This villa was absolutely breathtaking and everything my family and I needed to unwind, refresh and relax after the new year! We loved every single aspect of the house from the comfortable bedding, the well stocked kitchen, the relaxing jacuzzi with the amazing views, private balconies for us to unwind privately and let me not even get started on the outdoor showers. If you've never taken one - book this house NOW! It is unmatched. We traveled to CR with my parents, husband and 2 year old and everyone lived their best lives. Anne-Caroline was great with her communication leading up to the trip. Oscar, the in country host was amazing for knowing exactly where to take us to eat, see animals, which beaches to visit and more. He drove us around safely and shared a ton of local knowledge with us. We will absolutely be returning to this villa in the near future and cannot wait! Our stay at this hidden gem in Costa Rica was nothing short of magical. The property is a nature lover’s paradise, surrounded by lush greenery and teeming with wildlife. Mornings on the back porch, sipping coffee while watching vibrant birds flock to the papaya perch, were unforgettable—especially for my mother, an avid birder. The kids had a blast exploring the nearby creeks, and the pool was a perfect spot for afternoon relaxation. Lorenzo was a exceptional host, offering privacy and personal touches that made our stay truly special. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a tranquil retreat in nature!

Our stay at Mario’s was excellent to say the very least! The communication from the hosts was great, it was easy to locate and an absolute pleasure to stay at! The 3 cabins are a fabulous option for groups. Our two families enjoyed privacy for the adults while our teens enjoyed staying in their own cabin. Security was around in the evenings and it was spotlessly clean! The location is also directly across the street from Hotel Belmar to grab drinks and even walk a short distance away from other restaurants. The highlight of our stay was actually a visit from a ghost faced monkey who stopped by to say good morning! We fed him a few bananas while he hung around to entertain us. Highly recommend if you’re staying in Monteverde to enjoy local activities like zip-lining and the Cloud Forest. Thank you Mario & Andrea for an unforgettable stay!

Best Airbnb we've ever stayed at! This place was absolutely perfect for our party of eight. The house was impeccably clean and had everything we needed. Great kitchen and tons of towels. Air conditioning upstairs allowed perfect sleeping conditions. Lots of seating and a play area for younger children. The bathrooms are beautiful and having 3 inside was wonderful. Great wifi. Amazing outdoor kitchen and eating area with lots of space. The pool area is perfect with lounge chairs, sun and shade. Two outdoor bathrooms and two outdoor showers were a nice surprise. The sports area was a huge hit with the kids, and we could watch from the pool area. There is a family of monkeys right on the property too! The caretaker was phenomenal and kept the property immaculate. Marvin, Vilma and their family were incredible and we all just adored them! They made great recommendations and shared very helpful information. Vilma prepared us the most delicious breakfast. Will be back!

We had a wonderful time! Great location close to town and the fun rope swing. We saw monkeys one day in the trees just outside the house and saw toucans everyday while there. The pool and quick walk down to the river were a hit with the kids! The outdoor shower was unique, the house is secure in a gated community, and it was quiet. We recommend staying here!

This accommodation actually surpassed our expectations. It looks even better in reality. Although we did not meet our host personally, he/she (sorry, I don't know) was communicative and proactive when we encountered a problem with the gate, so the problem was solved in very short time. I liked its location in a relatively quite part on the outskirts of La Fortuna. It was a perfect base to explore the surrounding area. After a busy day hiking kids loved to refresh in the wonderful pool. There's a lot of space to relax, very well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. I can highly recommend this place.

Very nice location, the pool, the outdoor kitchen! Only downside, the washer dryer is not accessible. While sleeping for 3 nights, we had access to 3 hours of laundry, without a laundry line. I had to notify the landlord to tell them to open the laundry room door.

This place is beautiful. The garden and swimming pool area are peaceful. The view of the Volcano is great. They provide all the necessary amenities including detergent to do your laundry. There's a dedicated laundry area. There are lots of good restaurants within a walking distance, and this is a great location to visit different attractions in the area. The host and staff are super kind and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the area.

Jimmy’s place had an amazing view of the volcano! It was in the perfect location with a quick drive to many restaurants and activities. It was a little difficult to find as we arrived at night, but easy to find once we knew to look for certain markers. Would stay again!

My family of 4 teenagers and my wife and I had a fantastic visit! Everything at the house was perfect. We loved the fresh fruit and cake on arrival. The sights of the volcano off the back were amazing! The pool was so soothing. The Bedrooms and Bathrooms were so comfortable. The kitchen and living area were excellent as well. We had a tiny bit of trouble finding it initially off the main road. But after passing it and then backtracking we found it easily. The location is perfect for having privacy but being close to everything. We didn't want to leave and wish we could have booked another night since it was so nice. We'd love to come back and stay here again!!! Thanks for a great stay!!!

This stay was beautiful! The view was the best it could have been. The location was perfect and the access to the hot springs at the Hotel was an incredible plus - they were relaxing and quiet with a wet bar available. The local recommendations were super helpful. Heydi was super friendly and responsive and helped us out so much.
