This private traditional Japanese house is owned by ‘JP’, a DIY enthusiast who self-renovated a 150-year-old traditional house, envisioning his ideal lifestyle. The standout feature of this accommodation is its one-of-a-kind ‘egg sauna’. This is a fully DIY sauna, developed entirely by JP from design to production, featuring a unique shape that allows heat to circulate naturally.Enjoy a sauna experience you can’t get anywhere else, while being enveloped by the gentle warmth of the wood-burning stove. Inside the room, there is also a traditional Japanese irori (hearth) typical of old Japanese houses. You can experience traditional Japanese living, such as sharing a hotpot around the irori (traditional hearth) or grilling skewers. *Please bring your own cooking utensils, such as ingredients and skewers. The accommodation is located in a quiet hamlet called ‘Kobo’, nestled among the mountains in Misasaki, Okayama Prefecture. Right nearby is Nishi-Awakura Village, which is attracting attention as a village for regional revitalisation and relocation, and the surrounding satoyama landscape is rich in nature. We use a vacant old-fashioned house as an accommodation. It is a calm environment because it is located in a rural area. It is located roughly in the center of Tottori Prefecture, so I think it is convenient for sightseeing by car. Nearby tourist spots include Aoyama Goshou Furusato Museum, which is a 9-minute drive away. The nearest supermarket and convenience store are 5 minutes away by car. We recommend that you purchase food and other items in advance. If you want to eat out, you need to go to Kurayoshi Station or Yura Station. ◼️ Building The exact age of the building is unknown, but I think it is over 50 years old. It is an old-fashioned Japanese-style building. The bathrooms and tatami mats are new, but everything else is the same. ◼️ Access For access other than by car, it is best to come by train to Kurayoshi Station or Yura Station and take a bus or taxi. The nearest bus stop is Anazawa on the Akasaki Line. Buses do not run at night.
