Even if you dig a well, only brown water comes out. So, about 100 years ago, they cut down a huge cedar tree that grew in the village and sold it to a temple in Kyoto. With that money, the villagers tried to dig a tunnel into the mountain behind them. However, the men who came to the construction site ran away, pretending to work only on the first day. The villagers succeeded in digging their own tunnel and drawing a stream that flowed behind the mountain. For 100 years, this water has been used as a valuable water supply for the village. Tarumiguchi Village has mountain cherry blossoms in spring, and char fishing in the river that has increased with snowmelt water. And wild vegetables. Not only common things like bracken, zenmai, and udon, You can enjoy precious wild vegetables that are not available in the market.
