Family-friendly holiday rentals in Wilkes County

Mitzi cabin is absolutely perfect! My husband and I enjoyed every minute! We didn’t want to leave. The cabin is so beautiful and with the string lights around the porch and creek it was the perfect 20th anniversary trip! We throughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and serene area.. If you are considering booking DO IT! You wont regret it.. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Jackie was a great host and very communicative! Ended up getting snowed in and they let us stay longer and even came and shoveled the drive way for us! Only 30 minutes from Boone, yet secluded. Would highly recommend taking a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Overall our stay was great! The location was beautiful and the house was mostly isolated. I will say that the house next door was unexpected but not a problem. The view was amazing and our dogs loved the big yard. We saw a variety of wildlife on our stay. The surround sound and hot tub were a great bonus along with the cornhole. I highly recommend this location just be careful on the gravel driveway if it’s raining, its slightly steep.

This cottage near the creek exceeded any expectations we had! It was warm, cozy, comfortable and inviting. The type of place that once you walk out back, you don’t want to leave. The property grounds itself were stunning, we enjoyed the trials and the creek running through and enjoyed fishing in the stocked pond. You get privacy and seclusion all with your needs less than a 5 mins drive. I don’t think I could say enough great things about this place. We absolutely will be planning another trip here again! Can’t say thank you enough to the hosts for sharing this great slice of heaven that they have!

We had a great stay at New River Lure. House was spacious with plenty of stuff to keep our kids entertained (pool table, ping pong, toys and board games). The trails around the property to the river were nice. West Jefferson is a beautiful area with a great downtown.

We had a wonderful time at this little cabin in the woods. It's on a beautiful piece of property and even though there were a few other buildings around, it felt very private. You could hear the stream in the background which was just lovely. The cabin itself was extremely clean and very welcoming. The decor was nice without being too cluttered feeling. Just the perfect amount of stuff. I don't think more than 2 people could stay here comfortably as it's basically just one big room, but for us, it was absolutely perfect! The back deck overlooked the stream and had a hot tub. We didn't use the hot tub and it was a bit loud which drowned out the sound of the stream. Teresa said that in the future, we can ask that it be turned off if we're not going to use it, so that's a great option for next time. Overall, a great place to spend a lovely, restful weekend in Elkin. We definitely plan to come back!

Would stay again in a heartbeat. Nice little cabin, very quiet and peaceful.

This was perfect for our group of 4 families! Each couple had their own bedroom, and the kids shared the bunk room in the basement. We loved that there was plenty of seating for everyone to be together at once, whether in the kitchen, livingroom or even on the back patio. I'm pretty sure the fish in the pond celebrated when we left as I'm sure they were caught 100 times each! You can't possibly be bored at the house. Just some things to note for future guests: There is no door on the master bath as it is open to the bedroom. There is no type of spray cleaner included with your stay and the closest store (dollar general) is 15 minutes away The hill to the dock is VERY steep. Our only complaint is the HVAC. There is absolutely no way to make all 3 levels comfortable. If the ground floor is comfortable, the basement is a freezer and the upstairs is a sauna. We never did use the pool table or the theatre because it was just unbearably cold downstairs no matter what we set it on.

Ellen’s farmhouse is charming and I would highly recommend it. It’s very well stocked and beautifully decorated. 5 Stars!

The view!!!! Ken’s place is a great place to get some rest and listen to the sounds of nature. I loved sitting on the large deck and listening to the birds with no other noise pollution. There was a birds nest on the deck and enjoyed watching the parents feed the babies. Peaceful sums it up more than anything. It was clean and had everything we needed. I hope we get to visit Ken’s place again.

Million dollar views and lots of outdoor spaces to view them from. This is not a new home, but it is a wonderful place to spend time together with family. We had loved ones coming from L.A., Michigan, and Indiana for a family wedding. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone. Fun game room. We didn't much use them but there were TVs in several spots. Nice table outside with a fireplace in the middle. The driveway is STEEP but we were visiting over a picture-perfect weekend in May so didn't have any trouble.

Charming would be an understatement. The tiny house suited two of us very well with lots of beautiful outdoor areas to explore and enjoy. We loved the hammocks artfully placed around the property, and also got a kick out of neighborhood dogs visiting us frequently. We wanted to experience MerleFest, but had no desire to be in a hotel, or stay on a crowded campsite with lots of people. We felt like we were camping, but on our own - very private site - perfect! And - Elizabeth immediately felt like a friend. Just a lovely human. Can't wait to return. ❤️

We rented this home for a trip with family visiting from South America. It was their first time in NC. We all really enjoyed the house and it was easy to get to Boone and West Jefferson ! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Great place to stay. We really enjoyed having ping pong, pool and chess available. Very clean and great views. Snowing while we’re there was a bonus.

Extremely beautiful cabin and location. The view was amazing got to watch numerous deer feed in the field across the street from the balcony. Enjoyed listening to the river rushing by every day. Was able to experience snow the first day and even go to do a little sledding. Steve was very responsive to our questions and the cabin was peaceful and very clean. Great stay and will definitely be back in the future.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Very comfortable after a long day of working at MerleFest. Great peaceful, quiet surroundings.

Well we’re so comfortable and had a great time. It was just our family and the setup was perfect for parents and children. Please be aware the location had stairs to get to the house and the grill is back down the stairs making it a little inconvenient for most but very hard if not impossible for those with mobility concerns. The place was very well appointed, comfortable, and clean. We’ll for sure be back!!

We had a great stay at Susan's cabin. Beautiful location and lots of great hiking trails all around the community. Caught a lot of fish in the ponds with our 4 year old. Would recommend and stay again!

We were immediately impressed with this house. Actually even better than shown in the photos. SO clean and well equipped. Plenty of books, games, puzzles and DVDs available. The deck was fabulous. Our only recommendation was add a couple more rockers for the covered area of the deck. We had one rainy day during our stay and sitting on the deck to enjoy it was fantastic! We also made good use of the gas fire table. Susan’s response time when we reached out was close to immediate and helpful. Overall, we had a fabulous week and having such a comfortable place to stay was a huge part of it! Thank you!

A lovely light filled home in a gated community. Very private and peaceful. We saw deer, turkeys and ducks. Since it is in the woods expect the usual bugs etc. Enjoyed coffee on the porch looking at the incredible view. The clubhouse and pool is a 5 minute walk. The location is a good 30 minutes from Boone. The roads are curvy and winding and you often need to stop for deer. We have family and friends in Boone so we were driving a lot. George was very nice and accommodating. He was in the owner’s apartment a few times to work on the property and I barely knew he was there. The WiFi and phone service was spotty. If I didn’t need to be in Boone so much, I would absolutely stay there again.
