Alexandria may seem a little far from Darlinghurst but the journey is worth it to go to the Grounds of Alexandria. It is a big café/garden/market which has plenty to entertain kids (like farm animals and spice trails) as well as adults (delicious coffee and food). In the school holidays they run wonderful classes for kids in all sorts of things like cupcake decorating, flower crown weaving, herb garden growing etc

My absolute favourite thing to do on a nice day is to go to Bronte Beach. You can do the Bondi to Bronte walk and take in all the beautiful coast line which getting some exercise, you can swim in the Bronte ocean pool, eat fish and chips on the beach or cook up a bbq on the public bbqs, and there are lots of shaded areas where you can sit all day without getting sunburnt. There is a big kids playground for little ones, if you can drag them out of the water!

A must see on any trip to Sydney. The easiest way from our apartment is to catch the bus from Burton St, just near St Vincent's hospital If you want to eat in Bondi, go one street back from the beach (glenayr st) for delicious cafes, the cafes right on the beach are less good. My favourite is Lox Stocks & Barrel for breakfast. Bondi Fish is meant to be great for lunch.

A nice thing to do is to catch the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Beach. At Manly you can enjoy a day on the beach, there are nice cafes and restaurants and you can have look around at the shops just near the beach. It is a nice day out and the ferry trip is fun too.
