Mission Statement: "The Sehome Hill Arboretum is concieved of as a natural area devoted to educational, aesthetic, recreational and research purposes; and all development shall be compatible with this ecological concept."
Located on the hill behind and behind WWU. Views of Bellingham and Bellingham Bay. There is trail access from behind Fairhaven College. Be sure to inquire about a parking pass prior to parking anywhere on campus!
Comprising 180 wooded acres, this nature park offers over 5 miles of trails & an observation tower.
Great views of downtown Bellingham from a historic tower. You can hike there from Western's college campus or drive to the top for the sweeping views. There is also a cool old tunnel model T's used to drive through.
At this point, you probably don't need more hiking options, but this still bears mentioning. A short beautiful hike to a wooden tower where you can view the bay and the cascades. If you have more time, there are tons of trails that criss-cross the arboretum and lead down into the beautiful campus of Western Washington University.
