Make sure you go prepared, the tunnel opens on the half hour to go to Whittier and on the hour to leave Whittier. There is a toll for using the tunnel but the toll coves your round trip. I always make sure to have Disney’s, “It’s a Small World” ready to play during the ride. I explain to my two sons that this tunnel ride is just as good as going to Disney. (This is met with eye rolls. They don’t think I’m funny.)

Longest highway tunnel in North America. Only highway access to historic Whittier, a gateway to beautiful Prince William Sound. Prince William sound was the epicenter of the 1964 9.2 earthquake
