Parma Cathedral is an important Italian Romanesque cathedral: the dome, in particular, is decorated by a highly influential illusionistic fresco by Renaissance painter Antonio da Correggio.

Questa chiesa non è solo il maggior luogo di culto di tutta la comunità di parmigiani ma un susseguirsi di opere sorprendenti. Una volta entrato, procedi fino all'altare e volgi lo sguardo al cielo... i tuoi occhi non crederanno a ciò che avranno davanti: l'Assuzione della vergine più spettacolare mai vista (dipinta dal Correggio)! This church is not only the major place of worship of the whole community of Parma but a succession of surprising works. Once entered, proceed to the altar and look at the sky ... your eyes will not believe what they will have before you: the most spectacular Assumption of the Virgin ever seen (by Correggio)!

Consiglio di comprare il biglietto con audioguida che comprende cattedrale, battistero e museo diocesano. Sono assolutamente un must. E' possibile acquistare i biglietti presso l'ufficio alla sinistra del Duomo. I suggest to buy the tickets (you can buy them from the office on the left hand-side of the Cathedral's entrance) that includes the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the museum - they are all in the same square. You will be given an audioguide which really goes into details. The three monuments are really a must when in Parma
