About this place
At Locanda, Craig and Anne Stoll — the same couple that brought Delfina to the Mission — deliver Roman-inspired classics along with new interpretations of the menu’s core dish, pasta. At this neighborhood favorite, simple housemade pastas shine against the dark raised walnut tables that fill the dining room. Fresh ingredients reign supreme, while Italian-inspired cocktails and reasonably priced wines are enough to inspire any world traveler to reminisce about Rome.
Tips from locals
This is actually a delightful restaurant, but snag a seat at the bar if you're looking for a classy, upscale cocktail. The old fashioned flight is especially memorable.
A total splurge. We love coming here for a "treat yo self" kind of meal. Cocktails are amazing. Highly suggest the olives and the bavette steak.
Italian. Very good restaurant in the Mission district. Better to book before. Abbastanza buono!

“Millennials love to stand in lines. Go mid-morning on weekdays to avoid long lines. But, the food is well worth it! Riches beyond your wildest dreams: butter-golden pains au chocolat, cappuccinos with ferns drawn in dense foam and croque monsieurs turbo-loaded with ham, two kinds of cheese and béchamel. Don't be dismayed by the inevitable line out the door – it moves fast – but be aware that lolling in Dolores Park is the only possible post-Tartine activity.”

““Not your typical Mexican fare”, the “inventive” tacos and other “tasty” small plates at these “high-energy” taquerias are “full of surprises”; expect a “constant party” in the “hip” surrounds, which all have outdoor tables, and if there’s a “wait” (they’re no-reservations), bartenders mixing “mean cocktails” help pass the time.”
