For all public transport a 'ventra' card is recommended. They can be purchased and reloaded at 'El', train, stops. Tap to pay with other devices, phones or credit/debit cards, may also work.

I definitely recommend using the Addison Red Line train. This is the most used and cheapest source of transportation in Chicago. Traffic can get bad in Chicago and this is a great hack to not have to deal with that. It is located literally right next to Wrigley Field. About a 10 minute walk.
