A short drive from the city, this canyon offers hiking in the summer and during winter the main road is partially closed to allow for cross country skiing. Enjoy fresh mountain air and forests. There is a small day use fee (about $5) at gate upon leaving.
Many hiking options. The Bowman Fork trailhead has picnic spots and more parking. It's $5/day.
Take Wasatch Boulevard to 3800 South. Follow 3800 South east into the canyon (fee area). Millcreek Canyon is full of hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, and birdwatching opportunities. Some of the birds you can see include, but aren't limited to, the Northern Pygmy-Owl, Northern Saw-Whet Owl, Flammulated Owl, and Great Horned Owl. Millcreek Canyon is also the site of Log Haven Restaurant, Elbow Fork Picnic Area

There are many easy, moderate, and difficult hikes here. Dogs are welcome, but note that on even-numbered days dogs must be leashed at all times in all areas of the canyon. Odd-numbered days dogs are allowed off-leash only on trails. Dogs (and horses) must remain outside of the watershed area.
