Why locals recommend it

The moat area around the Imperial Palace—where the emperor lives—is like a wonderful green island in Tokyo. Each season brings about its own plant life and charm, from the autumn leaves to the spring cherry blossoms reflected in the water. You can circle the palace in a car or on foot to get a full view of all this wonder. I personally think the best time to come here is at night. As you go around the palace, the contrast of the dark imperial trees and the bright city lights behind it is exquisite.

The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station.
