Why locals recommend it
I’ve been coming to this energetic bistro since arriving in New York in the ’80s, but it’s currently enjoying a revival as a favorite watering hole that also serves great French-American fare. The accommodating staff is thoughtful when seating parents with kids and babies and hand over crayons so kids can draw on the table’s butcher paper. You’d be hard-pressed to find better French fries in the city. They come served with their signature pink Odeon dipping sauce.

Tips from locals
Classic NY restaurant in classic NY neighborhood. Amazing service, delicious food.
A classic, The Odeon has still got it after all these years - sexy, busy, fun, fantastic steak frites, snappy service and expert bartenders. Low-key glamorous, but welcoming to all. Best spot downtown for a late night dinner. Long live The Odeon.
