(1 hr/1.5 km return) A great walk for families with information panels and a selfguided nature trail. The well-graded loop track winds through attractive native forest down to the Mangakara Stream

This has a well formed track with steps down through a majestic native forest to a gorgeous mountain stream. There are lots of birds too. You might see a kokako (amazing native songbird) because this was the site they were released from by a local conservation group in 2017. There are glow worms along the stream bank too.
