Cafe/arts venue, run by a cooperative and always friendly and fairly cheap. You can also buy a stranger a free coffee there, or claim a free coffee, bought by a stranger, yourself.

The Forest is a volunteer-run, collectively-owned, free arts and events project. As well as a vegetarian cafe, their events have included music, theatre, dancing, yoga, massage, poetry recitals, art displays, knit-ins, book tours, language teaching, monsterbike making…and plenty more.

FOOD SCENE: This volunteer run cafe/bar is popular with the modern Eco/hippy/artist/performer crowd and is the place to be if you want to find out about fun community events, retreat type stuff and circus skill bits and bobs. Food is veggie, cheap and tasty. They have an Olio food exchange box, swap area and free bread to pick up daily!

Hip and cosy volunteer-run café that serves an AAA Vegan Chili for less than a fiver. There's also free bread sometimes.
