One of our favourite lakes to walk around, just a short drive from our air bnbs in Cockermouth. Around 8 miles to walk the full loop around the lake. Also a perfect place for wild swimming if you are brave enough, or letting the kids have a paddle on a summers day!

Beautiful lake about 17 minutes away from the cottage, great for wild swimming.

You can go for a picnic by the water's edge or even take a wild swim.

It's a great flat walk that'll take around 4 hours at a leisurely pace. There is a pay & display car park at the start of the walk.

At the north end of Crummock water is a National Trust Carpark, with a path leading to the Lake Shore. Its great for open water swimming, skimming stones and drinking in the view down the Buttermere Valley.
