If the day is sunny and warm, nothing beats renting a boat from Rose Marina and taking the boat to Keewaydin Island. It's a secluded spot with warm still waters only accessible by boat. Bring some footballs, water toys, and plenty of suntan lotion!
Rent a boat and go spend the afternoon on the island. Take your beach chairs, and your coolers. Several food boats will be there. Anchor the boat on the Riverside of the island and you can walk across to the Beach side. Really busy place. You can also take a tour boat to the island.
You can only access Keewaydin Island by boat, either by renting or bringing your own boat or taking the Keewaydin ferry ($) from Rose Marina on Marco Island. Many boats pull up on the inner side and spend the day walking the beach, shelling, grilling, or floating from one end of the island to the other. They often have food boats, especially on the weekends. This Island can often have some big parties as well. There are no facilities on the island, so you must bring everything with you and take it back home when you leave. There is also a nice sand bar developing south of the island where you can anchor your boat.
