Typical dwelling partly excavated and partly built, with splendid views of the enchanted scenery of the Sassi of Matera. It is located in a pedestrian area, so it is not accessible by car, but there is a convenient paid parking lot a 2-minute walk away and free parking along the road a little further away. Close to the most important places to visit! Access to the apartments is on a comfortable ground floor but the view from the balcony of apartment number 1 is on a high floor (magic of the Sassi of Matera!)

San Biagio Suite in the Sassi

Located in the Sasso Barisano, the San Biagio Suite is completely carved out of the tuff rock and offers the unique and magical experience of sleeping in the Sassi of Matera. The partition walls are made of frosted glass, but with a touch you can make them transparent so you can appreciate the environment in its evocative entirety. In the Sasso, you can admire the fossil shells that emerge from the tuff, take a shower inside the cave and touch the walls that emerged from the sea a million years ago.

The spaces have been furnished with a reference to the history of the peoples who have lived for centuries in these caves, without taking anything away from the comfort that modernity has given us. This building was first used a cannon house and throughout the following years served as a warehouse, a coal pit and an atelier of a renowned local painter.
