Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Sutherland

I stayed during a very cold weekend and Retha’s place was so cozy! I had everything I needed, a lot of thought has definitely gone into this place. Thanks Retha!

Cute, private accommodation. A fully equipped kitchenette, a fireplace, hot water bottles, warm blankets, crispy linen and mattress heater with a piping hot shower...all you need for a cozy stay in Sutherland!

Loved the place, different from modern places. Made us feel right at home. Was in walking distance from all the restaurant and things to do. Would definitely visit again in the future.

A lovely place with lots of room, well equipped kitchen, lovely old world touches eg antique items and all in working order. Very clean and wished we could have stayed longer. Close to town centre where we did stargazing which was brilliant.

Writing on behalf of Carla: Alene was a very responsive and helpful host, sending plenty of additional, helpful information ahead of check-in. The accommodation was comfortable and thoughtfully equipped—we really appreciated the electric blankets in chilly Sutherland temperatures! The cottage would be a star-gazer’s dream, being on a farm 21km outside of Sutherland. Although the dirt roads leading there had recently been graded, it’s worth bearing in mind that they are unlit and prone to quickly becoming heavily muddy for a sedan car to navigate in rain.

The hosts were absolutely phenomenal, and Sutherland is a VERY safe town! I ended up broken down about 20km south of Sutherland at night while trying to get back to Cape Town alone, and my rental company had no service providers willing to send a tow truck to get me so I booked with Etienne very last minute. The location was wonderful, very secure, and the hosts made what was easily one of the most terrifying nights of my life into something great. Thank you again for all of your wonderful hospitality!! If you are in the area, you should absolutely book with Etienne 10/10 experience.

Wow, this house was so amazing! It looked to be 100 years old- but it was so well kept! Beautiful hard wood floors! Beautiful comfortable beds and bedrooms with bed warmers and lots of extra blankets! I can just imagine the families that lived in this beautiful space throughout the last century. We were met when we arrived and made to feel like it was our home! Such a special house!

my mates and I had a wonderful and peaceful stay after a long drive from joburg, felt refreshed right after ! would recommend to anyone !!!
