Stay by the sea

KelseyRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Jack and Marion’s place was wonderful for our family. It was spacious for the 5 of us. Nothing over complicated, easy hosts to communicate with and extremely friendly. My kids absolutely loved the games cupboard. The weather was rainy when we arrived so this occupied them until we managed a beach walk. Perfectly situated for our purpose - Anzac Day. The Redcliffe RSL is a 5 minute drive down the road. Cannot speak highly enough of our stay - it felt like a home. Thank you Jack and Marion. We hope to stay again - most likely for another Anzac Day adventure!

The Spillway Cottage at Samford Lakes

RaeRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We highly recommend staying at Amanda and Craig’s beautiful Samford Lakes cottage. We had the best weekend getaway! We got to bring our little bulldog along which made it even more special. There is so much to do aswell. We spent the day playing tennis, swimming in the massive pool, rowing the boat along the lake and even having pizza out of their poolside pizza oven. We loved chatting with Amanda and Craig and hearing Craig’s stories with a glass of wine and a freshly cooked pizza. The room was absolutely stunning too. It was very spacious and looked over the lake and the lillypads. You can even see the cows across the water. We absolutely loved using the massive bath, waking up an having a coffee on the huge veranda overlooking the water, playing board games by the fireplace and running around the property with our fur baby. John was also incredible and gave great recommendations and helped us set up some activities. Couldn’t recommend it high enough. Can’t wait to return.

Loved my stay here! The place was super clean, comfy, and had everything I needed. The host was really nice and quick to respond whenever I had a question. The location was also perfect — close to everything but still quiet. Felt super cozy and welcoming. Would 100% stay again!

Eagle's Nest - 2 bedroom home

HansRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago

Float your boat! - Eastern House

RonRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Lynelle’s place was ideal for our family of three generations and our pup. The kitchen is very well equipped and the fact that it opens onto the entertainment area was a bonus. The pool, where we spent most of our time is amazing. The home was spotlessly clean and Lynelle is a very responsive hostess. We would have no hesitation to recommend this facility.

Had an amazing time staying here. Such a homely atmosphere which was great for staying with our baby. Quiet neighbourhood and loved going for morning walks to the local cafe for coffee every morning and peaceful for evening walks. Found it close to everywhere we needed to be.

Your guide to Sandstone Point

Welcome to Sandstone Point

Part of the Moreton Bay region just 50 kilometres (30 miles) north of Brisbane, Sandstone Point is the single gateway to beautiful Bribie Island — cross the bridge from here and you’re on one of the three major sand islands in the bay, the others being North Stradbroke and Moreton. More than 360 much smaller drops of land lie just offshore, making this part of Queensland hugely popular among watersports enthusiasts and sun-seekers.

The bay itself is designated as a marine park, a protected haven for dolphins and harmless wobbegong sharks, which you’ll spot while cruising around the calm cove or on snorkelling expeditions amid Moreton Island’s famed Tangalooma shipwrecks. You don’t have to travel far to experience the celebrated surf breaks of the Coral Sea, so epic they attract wave-riders from around the world.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Sandstone Point

Prime position aside, Sandstone Point is perennially popular thanks to its blissful year-round temperatures, remaining balmy for most of the year. Summer and the Easter school holidays are peak seasons when vacationers descend to make the most of the region’s ample sun, sand, and surf, with plenty of calm coves also available for swimming. The water temperature drops only a degree or two in winter, which means there’s never a bad time to dive in. The warmer months also see sporting events in full force in this part of Queensland, with a series of triathlons held annually between October and March. You’ll likely glimpse sea turtles and dolphins year round, as well as migrating whales from May through November.

Top things to do in Sandstone Point

Moreton Island

The car ferry to Moreton Island takes 75 minutes and lands at a spot where you can find shops and cafes. Once there you can explore remote beaches, ocean pools, and Moreton Lighthouse at the northern tip — a great place to spot dolphins, turtles, manta rays, dugongs, and migrating humpback whales playing offshore.

Tangalooma Shipwrecks

Whether you captain your own boat or catch a ferry out to Moreton Island, get ready to discover the region with your head under water. Between the 1960s and 1980s, 15 ships were scuttled just offshore to attract fish and grow coral. Today, the site is popular among snorkellers and divers alike, with additional tours available via sea scooter.

Bribie Island

The majority of Bribie Island is national parkland, a place of wild beauty you can explore off-road in your own 4WD, or on a tour showcasing remote stretches of sand, languid lagoons, and swathes of tropical rainforest enveloping unexpected WWII fortifications.
