Reasonable food in a top location by the lake. Tends to be very popular for outdoor dining during the summer season so best to book in advance, but you can try your luck at lunchtime. Avoid Tuesday lunch (market day in Lenno).

The best gelato on Lake Como, period. They even sell tubs to take home, which most locals do.

Drinks & Nightlife

Once popular with footballers from Milan at the weekend, now a little quieter but still a nice place for a pre- or post-dinner drink, or even an afternoon of cocktails by the lake (they have their own small sand beach with loungers!)

Sightseeing

If you only see one villa on Lake Como, see this one. Possibly the best location for a house on the whole lake, it has featured in several films (Star Wars and James Bond) and is rumoured to have been built the site of one of Roman emperor's villa. Now a national museum with a quirky collection belonging to the last owner, an aristocratic Italian explorer. The formal gardens are absolutely stunning. Check the opening times before you go as they are a bit strange and consider walking there from the park outside the Lido di Lenno (about 20 minutes, some uphill).

Parks & Nature

This is a long walk (3-4 hours round trip, very steep in parts) but for those who are active and fit definitely worth the hike. At the turning point in the trail, hidden deep in a forest valley is a 1000-year old monestary which is still used in religious festivals. Keep your eyes and ears open for deer, foxes and wild boar.

A small farming community in the hills above Lenno and Mezzegra, this is another steep climb of 1-2 hours but you are rewarded with amazing lake views all the way up.
