Food Scene

Jeremy runs the best cafe in Annandale, IMHO. The spinach eggs are my weekend go-to. There is Campos coffee and great shakes, and often hand-made and secondhand markets in the space downstairs.

They do a good vegan breakfast but not a lot of seating. Fantastic for takeaway coffee, and pastries, pies and artisan stoneground bread.

A foodie's heaven, the recently converted Tramsheds house a range of cuisines all under the one roof. It can feel a little like a food hall in terms of ambience, but there are some great, if a little exxy options. I recommend the sustainable Fish & Co. There's also a liquor store, supermarket, medical centre, gym and organic dry foods market. Get Gelato Messina at the end of the meal - you'll thank me!

Drinks & Nightlife

Easy to stumble home from, the Annandale isn't quite its former rock'n'roll self, but now does a nice line in local beers and epic Burgers By Josh. Occasionally has live music, and a great local vibe. Oh and it's about 10 secs walk away!

Hipster central, King Street is now the hub of Sydney's nightlife. There are fantastic bars, restaurants, drinking spots and live music venues (though not enough of these). And a LOT of frozen yoghurt joints.

Parks & Nature

Fantastic paved walk along the water - follow Nelson St down to the park, and join throngs of joggers and dog walkers. A nice walk around to Anzac Bridge or Glebe, and a good spot for a picnic or a walk after lunch at the Tramsheds.

Another iconic beach, catch the ferry from Circular Quay over to Manly Beach for a day. A much more laid-back vibe than Bondi, it's home to surfers and lots of good ice cream. Famous local pub is the Steyne.
