Lake Gregory Trail is a 2.3 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Crestline, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. There is also a water park here. The rates (in my opinion) are a bit high. $10 to park. Beach entrance is $10/person. Seniors and active military $6. If you want to enjoy the water slides--and there are a lot of them!--it's $25, which includes beach and slide access. There are all sorts of paddle boards and kayaks, etc.--all at an additional cost. We go there to enjoy the trail.

Drinks & Nightlife

Don't miss the summer concert season from mid-May to early September. There is a full range of tribute bands, food, drinks and lots of fun every weekend. The Village also has fun selection of local arts and crafts shops, along with a couple of Outlet stores (Pendleton, Bass, Van Heusen, Jockey and Coach...and more). There is also a great ice cream shop and pretty good coffee shop. Park on the lower level and go up the stairs next to McDonalds.

Parks & Nature

It took a while for us to find this place and the road there is quite rough. If your car is delicate, I don't recommend this one. But, if you want a cool stream and a long hike, this is the place for you! At the parking area, there are a couple of picnic tables and easy access to the creek. Once you get on the trail, it's only hiking--we hiked for an hour or so and found no convenient picnic areas. The trail connects with the Pacific Crest trail, so you could go on to Canada--I suppose! For the wee bit more adventurous, you can hike to the "deep creek" and have fun diving. We haven't made it to the pool, but have hiked the trail above it, and it looks fun--for a younger athletic crowd.

Beautiful arboretum just 2.7 miles from our place, going east on highway 18. There is an easy walking path through the park that will introduce you to the native and imported trees and vegetation. From their web site: "Hikers will find such trees as the Arizona Cypress, Giant Sequoia, Sugar Pine, Knob Cone Pine, Coulter Pine, Black Oak, Quaking Aspen, White Fir, and Dogwood. A whole array of wildflowers are in bloom between March and October. " The trail is probably just over a mile long. Technically, you need a Forest Service pass ($5), but if you park along the highway you should be fine.
