Chef, Martin Heuser, is proud to offer his guests a dining experience with focus on locally sourced products, honest preparation methods and delicious flavors...with a German twist reflecting our heritage. Their menu changes seasonally, offering a new dining experience at each visit. The ambience at Affäre offers the opportunity for an elegant evening out, as well as a great place for friends to get together in a casual setting. If you haven't dined in their tranquil courtyard you must! It's one of the most beautiful spots for outdoor dining in Kansas City! I really love the Black Forrest Cake and Hackepeter (Steak Tartar). Can't get enough.

I eat there at least once a week. Great food. If you like flavor but not spiciness, I recommend Huli Huli Chicken, the spam musubi (sounds terrible, but is so delicious they can't keep up with the orders), and a Dole Whip. I promise you'll have plenty of food and you'll be completely satisfying multiple cravings at once.

It's very pretentious and not very...how should I say this...multicultural? It's white. Young, pretentious white. But at least everyone down there is fake nice to you. I lived there before moving to Hyde Park and quickly found out these were not my people. But I still made the best out of it and discovered great places to eat, daily events, and normal people lived there too, just keeping to themselves. it's worth checking out if you want to drink overpriced coffee at a roasterie that makes the best tasting ham & cheese croissants. Or eat a 5 course meal (with portions the size of half dollars) that will excite your taste pallets to new heights, but paying $100 per person.
