Arts & Culture

It shows English middle class homes through the ages, from around the 1600s to the present day. And presented in Victorian almshouses - very sweet and interesting in themselves. Lovely cafe too. And easy to get to direct from Highbury and Islington station to Hoxton.

I've listed as a museum but it's more like a very beautiful private home from the 18th Century that happens to have a Rembrandt, some Gainsboroughs and a Vermeer, set in the stunning north part of Hampstead Heath. Great cafe there too.

You can usually get tickets on the day (as it's such a big venue) for an opera that will be sung in English.

It's easy to get to from us, direct on the 4 bus and it was built in the 1600s and is so important in our history and the story of London! And if you're brave, you can climb right up inside to the cupola at the top!

It's a 10 minute walk to get to it and is very pretty with ponds with swans in, an adventure playground for kids, a lovely posh cafe, deer and goats (admittedly in an enclosure). I walk friends' dogs here often.

Our nearest park, and the only one technically in Islington. Has tennis courts at the top end and a swimming pool and adventure playground at the southern end, near Highbury and Islington station and nice open space in between, surrounded by beautiful Georgian houses
